Front End Loader Operator – Snow Removal

About the Position

We are seeking an experienced, dependable, and safety-conscious Front End Loader Operator to join our team for snow removal operations in the Oshawa area.

The successful candidate will operate a John Deere front end loader equipped with a 14-foot box blade to clear snow from commercial properties, parking lots, access roads, and other designated areas.

This is an on-call position requiring availability during winter weather events, including overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays. The successful candidate must be able to respond promptly to call-outs and arrive at the designated work site within one hour of being called.

We are looking for an experienced operator who takes pride in their work, understands the demands of winter operations, and can be relied upon throughout the snow removal season.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate a John Deere front end loader equipped with a 14-foot box blade for snow removal.
• Clear snow from parking lots, commercial properties, access roads, and other assigned areas.
• Respond to call-outs during snowstorms and other winter weather events.
• Arrive at designated work sites within one hour of being called.
• Perform pre-operation equipment inspections and report mechanical issues or maintenance concerns.
• Operate equipment safely and efficiently in changing weather and site conditions.
• Exercise caution around vehicles, pedestrians, curbs, landscaping, and other obstacles.
• Follow site-specific instructions and established safety procedures.
• Communicate with supervisors regarding site conditions, completed work, and equipment concerns.
• Maintain reliable attendance and fulfill all required scheduled shifts throughout the season.

Qualifications & Requirements

• 3–5 years of front-end loader operating experience.
• 1–2 years of snow-plowing experience using the same or comparable equipment.
• Experience operating a John Deere front end loader is strongly preferred.
• Experience using a 14-foot box blade for snow removal is a significant asset.
• Valid Ontario G-class driver's licence and a satisfactory driving record at the employer’s discretion.
• Reliable personal transportation to designated work sites.
• Ability to respond to call-outs and arrive within one hour.
• Availability for overnight shifts, weekends, holidays, and extended hours during snow events.
• Strong understanding of equipment safety and safe operating practices.
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in challenging winter conditions.
• Dependable, punctual, and committed to maintaining consistent attendance throughout the season.

Guaranteed Weekly Pay

Receive pay for 16 hours per week at your regular hourly rate during designated standby periods. Hours worked during call-outs count toward the initial 16-hour weekly pay threshold. Additional hours are paid in accordance with the applicable pay arrangement and Ontario employment standards, including overtime requirements.

$2,000 Season-End Attendance Bonus

Earn a $2,000 bonus at the end of the snow removal season by attending and working all required scheduled shifts and fulfilling the position's attendance requirements. This bonus recognizes operators who demonstrate reliability, commitment, and dependable service throughout the winter season.

Schedule & Availability

This is an on-call position, with work dependent on snowfall, weather conditions, and operational requirements.

The successful candidate must:

• Remain available during assigned standby periods.
• Be prepared to work overnight, weekends, and holidays when required.
• Respond to call-outs and arrive at the designated work site within one hour.
• Maintain reliable attendance throughout the snow removal season.
