The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing the complete bookkeeping cycle, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank and credit card reconciliations, general ledger maintenance, payroll support, and month-end closing. This role requires someone who can work independently, maintain accurate financial records, identify discrepancies, and ensure that accounting information is complete and up to date.
Responsibilities
- Manage the company's day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting activities.
- Record and maintain accurate financial transactions in the accounting system.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, including invoices, payments, collections, and vendor/customer records.
- Perform regular bank, credit card, and account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
- Record journal entries, accruals, adjustments, and other accounting transactions.
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing procedures.
- Prepare financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, cash flow reports, and account summaries.
- Monitor outstanding receivables and payables and maintain accurate aging records.
- Assist with payroll processing and payroll-related accounting when required.
- Maintain organized and accurate financial documentation and supporting records.
- Review transactions for accuracy, proper classification, and appropriate account coding.
- Work with management, vendors, customers, and other departments to resolve accounting discrepancies and questions.
- Assist with budgeting, expense tracking, and financial reporting as needed.
- Support accountants, auditors, and management during financial reviews and audits.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of financial and company information.
- Identify opportunities to improve bookkeeping procedures, reporting, and accounting workflows.
- Work efficiently within the company's secure RDP/remote desktop environment and follow all required security procedures.
Experience & Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Full-Charge Bookkeeper, Senior Bookkeeper, Staff Accountant, or similar accounting position.
- Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and fundamental accounting principles.
- Hands-on experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, journal entries, general ledger accounting, and financial reporting.
- Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, QuickBooks Online, Sage, NetSuite, Xero, SAP, or similar platforms.
- Strong Excel skills, including formulas, lookups, pivot tables, and financial data analysis.
- Experience preparing and reviewing financial statements and account reconciliations.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify and correct accounting discrepancies.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple accounting responsibilities independently and meet deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to handle confidential financial information professionally and securely.
- Previous experience working remotely or in a virtual accounting environment is preferred.
Remote Work Requirements
This is a fully remote position. The successful candidate must have:
- A reliable Windows computer suitable for professional accounting work.
- Stable, high-speed internet access.
- Ability to work through the company's secure RDP (Remote Desktop) environment.
- A private and secure workspace suitable for handling confidential financial information.
- Ability to follow company security, remote-access, and data-protection procedures.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining consistent communication with the accounting and management teams.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a dependable accounting professional who can independently manage the company's books, keep financial records accurate and current, and take ownership of day-to-day accounting responsibilities. You should be comfortable working with minimal supervision, solving accounting issues, and ensuring that management has reliable financial information when needed.
