Full Stack Developer - AI Applications

Role Description:

You will join a growing team of engineers delivering cutting-edge AI solutions to organizations of national importance in Bulgaria.

Your work will combine web development with AI-specific components such as document ingestion and context management, including the ongoing experimentation and refinement needed to meet user needs.

You will also contribute to the BgGPT platform, which provides public access to the latest large language models developed by INSAIT as well as other exciting and cutting-edge engineering projects.

We are looking for a results-driven engineer who takes ownership, shows initiative, and can tackle complex technical challenges. You should be organized, manage your time effectively, learn quickly, and be comfortable adopting new technologies on a regular basis.

We value good product judgment backed by technical expertise and an understanding of the broader business context. You’ll also have the opportunity to bring that perspective into feature discussions and help shape what we build.

This is a full-time on-site position based in Sofia, Bulgaria, although a hybrid work model may be considered.

Main Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and deliver AI-based applications.
• Develop and improve the public and internal BgGPT platform.
• Build AI solutions at different stages of maturity, from rapid proofs of concept and pilot projects to large-scale, production-ready systems.
• Collaborate closely with researchers on tasks related to LLM training and experimentation
• Maintain existing projects and contribute to monitoring and reporting.

Requirements:

• At least 5 years of experience in software development.
• At least 2 years of experience in web development with Python.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals, including clean code, testing, security, and reliability.
• Experience building AI applications, such as chat assistants, RAG systems, or applications using agentic frameworks.
• Experience with prompt engineering and context management.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, such as PostgreSQL and MongoDB.

Nice To Have:

• Experience with frontend development and modern JavaScript libraries and frameworks, such as React, Svelte or Next.js.
• Experience across the full software development lifecycle, including building and delivering entire applications from scratch.
• Familiarity with Docker and cloud platforms such as GCP or AWS.
• Understanding of LLMs, neural networks, and machine learning algorithms.
• Experience evaluating AI applications.
• A bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, AI, or a related field.
