Full Stack Developer

Experience: 3–5 Years

The Role

The Full Stack Developer will be responsible for designing, developing and maintaining web applications across frontend and backend components. The role requires hands-on ownership of application features from development through testing, integration and deployment, with a strong focus on code quality, security and maintainability.

The developer will work closely with product, engineering and security teams to translate requirements into reliable technical solutions. At this experience level, the role is expected to independently handle development tasks, troubleshoot application issues, contribute to technical decisions and participate in code reviews.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain responsive web applications across frontend and backend layers.
• Build reusable frontend components and implement user-facing features using modern JavaScript frameworks.
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs, backend services and integrations with internal and third-party systems.
• Design and work with relational and/or NoSQL databases, including data modelling, queries and performance optimisation.
• Write clean, modular and testable code following established development standards and secure coding practices.
• Troubleshoot application defects, API failures, performance issues and production incidents across the technology stack.
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions and application design decisions to improve code quality and maintainability.
• Implement authentication, authorisation, input validation, API security and other application security controls.
• Work with CI/CD pipelines, source control and deployment processes across development, testing and production environments.
• Use development automation and AI-assisted coding tools, where adopted, for appropriate tasks such as code assistance, testing or documentation while ensuring developer review and adherence to security standards.

Skills & Experience

• 3–5 years of hands-on experience in full stack web application development.
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML and CSS, with experience in a modern frontend framework such as React, Angular or Vue.js.
• Hands-on backend development experience using Node.js, Python, Java, .NET or a comparable server-side technology.
• Experience designing and integrating REST APIs and working with JSON-based services.
• Good understanding of relational databases such as MySQL/PostgreSQL and/or NoSQL databases such as MongoDB.
• Working knowledge of Git, branching strategies and collaborative software development practices.
• Understanding of application security principles, including authentication, authorisation, session/token management, input validation and common web application vulnerabilities.
• Experience with unit testing, debugging, logging and application performance troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with CI/CD, containerisation and cloud-based application deployment environments.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to understand requirements, document technical solutions and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Docker, cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or GCP, and CI/CD tools.
• Familiarity with OWASP Top 10 and secure software development practices.
• Exposure to microservices, asynchronous processing, caching or scalable application architectures.
• Experience integrating AI-enabled APIs or a service into applications is an advantage where relevant to product requirements.
