What they need

Alkemy EdTech is a DPIIT-recognised edtech startup in Hyderabad, running live, cohort-based upskilling programmes in AI, digital marketing and data analytics. Our learners study on our own Open edX-based LMS and find us through our React website.

We're looking for a full-stack developer to own both platforms: keep them fast, secure and reliable, and build the new features and hands-on labs our programmes need next.

What you'll do

  • Own the website. Maintain and improve our React and TypeScript website: new pages, landing pages, forms, performance and bug fixes.
  • Keep SEO technically strong. Maintain meta tags, structured data (JSON-LD), sitemaps, page speed and Core Web Vitals.
  • Run the LMS. Maintain our Open edX platform deployed with Tutor: upgrades, plugins, configuration, theming and MFE customisation.
  • Keep everything up and secure. Manage AWS hosting, backups, SSL, DNS, email deliverability, monitoring and server sizing, and fix incidents quickly.
  • Build learning features. Develop and integrate XBlocks, LTI tools and Tutor plugins, including hands-on labs for Python and Jupyter, SQL and data analytics.
  • Connect our systems. Build and maintain integrations between the website, LMS, CRM, payments, email and messaging through APIs and webhooks.
  • Support AI features. Help maintain and extend the AI-powered features in our LMS and career tools.
  • Document and protect. Keep clear documentation of architecture, credentials handling, deployments and runbooks, and follow access and data-security practices.
  • Support the team. Resolve LMS and website issues raised by learners, trainers and staff.

What success looks like

  • Platforms stay up. The website and LMS run reliably, with fast recovery when something breaks.
  • Updates ship safely. Upgrades and new features go live without disrupting live cohorts.
  • The website performs. Pages are fast, search-friendly and convert visitors into enquiries.
  • New labs go live. Learners get hands-on labs that grade automatically and feed into the gradebook.
  • Nothing depends on one person. Systems are documented well enough that anyone could pick them up.

Ideally you'll have

  • 3 to 6 years in full-stack development
  • Strong Python and Django
  • Hands-on Open edX experience: Tutor deployments, plugins, XBlocks, theming or MFEs
  • Strong React and TypeScript, with Tailwind CSS
  • AWS experience (EC2, S3, backups, monitoring) and Docker
  • Working knowledge of Linux server administration, DNS, SSL and email authentication (SPF, DKIM, DMARC)
  • Experience with REST APIs, webhooks and third-party integrations
  • Good habits: Git, clear documentation and careful deployments

Nice to have

  • JupyterHub or nbgrader experience
  • LTI integrations, such as video conferencing tools in an LMS
  • Technical SEO experience
  • Google Cloud or experience integrating AI and LLM APIs
  • Experience with Lovable or other AI-assisted development tools
  • Prior edtech or LMS product experience

What we offer

  • Ownership: full responsibility for the platforms learners use every day
  • Real building work: custom labs, AI features and integrations, not just maintenance
  • Growth: a path to Tech Lead as the team scales
  • Leave: paid leave and public holidays as per company policy

Our commitment
Alkemy is an equal opportunity organisation. We welcome applicants of every background, gender, age and ability. If you don't match every line above but are excited about this role, we'd still like to hear from you.

How to apply
Send your CV, GitHub or portfolio link, current and expected CTC and notice period, plus a short note on an Open edX or LMS project you've worked on, to [email address]. Subject line: "Full-Stack Developer – [Your Name]" to [email protected]

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month

Application Question(s):

  • How many years of full-stack development experience do you have?
  • Are you comfortable managing AWS servers, backups and DNS yourself?
  • Have you worked hands-on with Open edX?
  • What are your current and expected CTC, and your notice period?
