What they need

Most backend internships end with a to-do app. This one asks for engineering that has to be right.

Nyayasiddhi, an Indian legaltech company, is hiring a Full Stack Engineering Intern (Backend) to join our engineering team in India.

This is a role for someone who treats correctness as a baseline and wants to learn how production systems are built when mistakes carry real consequences.

The engineering you’ll do

  • Design and build REST APIs in NestJS with strict input validation, structured error handling and tests on critical paths
  • Model and query data in PostgreSQL using Drizzle ORM, with a firm grip on transactions, indexing and integrity
  • Read query plans, find bottlenecks and fix them, improving both database performance and API response times
  • Build with traceability and accountability in mind, so system behaviour can be explained and defended
  • Take part in code reviews and work closely with the wider engineering team

What we expect from you

  • Working knowledge of Node.js (TypeScript preferred)
  • A solid grasp of REST design and HTTP fundamentals
  • Strong SQL: joins, indexes, transactions, query performance
  • Sound fundamentals in data structures, error handling and clean code
  • Comfort with Git and pull-request workflows
  • Honesty about what you don’t know, and the drive to close the gap quickly

You don’t need to know our stack already. You do need to care about building systems people can rely on.

A real advantage if you have it

  • Exposure to queues, event-driven design or microservices (BullMQ, for example)
  • Docker, and comfort reading EXPLAIN ANALYZE output
  • Experience building software for professionals, where workflow-heavy systems demand careful design
  • Shipped work used by people under real pressure, not just side projects

The terms, stated plainly

  • Location: India (on-site / hybrid)
  • Type: Internship, (Paid/Unpaid)
  • After 3 months, high performers convert to paid roles, based on reliability, code quality, edge-case handling, ownership and collaboration

What you gain

Mentorship from engineers who value technical rigour, real contributions to a production platform, and early exposure to a domain with lasting demand for engineers who build carefully.

How to apply

Email your resume, GitHub profile (or a code sample) and a short note covering:

  1. One backend or full-stack project you’ve built
  2. What went wrong while building it
  3. What you’d change if you built it again, thinking about how someone would actually use it
