Jet Convert specialises in migrating accounting data into Xero for businesses and accounting practices across Australia, New Zealand and the United States.

Based on the Sunshine Coast, we combine software, automation and accounting knowledge to make complex migrations accurate and efficient.

The role

We’re looking for a skilled Full Stack PHP Developer with strong practical experience using AI in software development and implementing AI-powered solutions.

You’ll build, maintain and improve our migration systems, working directly with our operations team to understand requirements and deliver reliable solutions.

We use Cursor extensively. You’ll need to go beyond basic prompting, using AI effectively to investigate code, develop functionality, troubleshoot issues and improve workflows. You’ll also identify and implement opportunities to integrate AI into our software and processes, with appropriate testing and validation.

This role suits someone who can learn existing systems quickly, work independently and take ownership of tasks through development, review and testing.

We’re recruiting now and would prefer someone available to start soon, allowing time for onboarding and knowledge transfer ahead of December.

What you’ll do

• Develop and maintain PHP applications and accounting data migration tools.
• Use AI-assisted development tools effectively across investigation, coding, testing and documentation.
• Identify, evaluate and implement AI and automation solutions that improve accuracy, efficiency and operational workflows.
• Build and maintain integrations with accounting platforms, external services and AI APIs.
• Investigate technical issues across application code, databases and integrations.
• Work with operational staff to clarify requirements and deliver practical solutions.
• Participate in peer reviews, sprint planning and agreed testing and release processes.
• Document system knowledge, share what you learn and communicate progress and blockers clearly.

What you’ll bring

• At least two years of professional software development experience, with demonstrated ownership of development tasks.
• Strong PHP skills and experience with Laravel.
• Advanced practical use of AI-assisted development tools, preferably Cursor, including providing relevant context, guiding complex tasks and critically reviewing generated code.
• Hands-on experience implementing AI functionality or AI-enabled workflows, including integrating models or services into applications.
• Sound judgement about where AI adds value, how to validate its output and how to handle sensitive data appropriately.
• Practical SQL experience, including querying, troubleshooting and validating data in MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server or similar databases.
• Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Working knowledge of JavaScript and modern frontend development, preferably React.
• Experience using Git, pull requests and code reviews.
• Clear communication, attention to detail and the ability to work effectively in a remote team.

You’ll need to understand and take responsibility for the solutions you deliver, including code produced with AI assistance.

Useful additional experience

• Data migration, transformation or reconciliation.
• Browser automation using Playwright or Puppeteer.
• Automation or scripting tools such as AutoIt or VBScript.
• Accounting software, bookkeeping or financial data.
