Full Stack Procedural PHP Developer

About Vuly

We create premium play experiences that get families outside and spark imagination. We are expanding into new regions, launching bold products, and sharpening the way we run the business. If you love solving real problems and seeing your code in the wild, this is for you.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a Mid Level Full Stack Procedural PHP Developer to join our Systems Team and help maintain and enhance our large legacy codebase. Reporting to the Team Lead and working under the strategic direction of the COO, you will write procedural PHP code, sometimes working with OOP.  You will creatively solve business problems.  You will check and reply to emails from other team members.

• Internal tools that keep the business running
• Integrations with the systems that manage stock, orders, and customers

You will collaborate with the dev team whose long term goal is to modernise the codebase.

What You Will Do

• Maintain our large fully custom procedural PHP codebase
• Front end (HTML/CSS/JS) and back end (PHP/MYSQL) development
• Deliver internal website features, internal tools, and system improvements
• Write clean, reliable procedural PHP code
• Programming of internal reports and systems
• Work with the COO and dev team on architecture, priorities, and technical decisions
• Troubleshoot production issues and own fixes from diagnosis through to deployment

Non-Negotiables (Must Haves)

• Minimum 5+ years of mid-level Full Stack Procedural PHP development experience
• Experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery
• Experience with responsive web design
• Experience with API integrations
• Experience with MySQL databases/queries
• Proven track record of shipping reliable code at pace in a production environment
• Comfortable working across the full lifecycle: scoping, building, testing, and deploying
• Ability to communicate effectively with remote, non-technical staff
• Ability to adjust priorities to achieve real-world outcomes for the business, at the expense of beautiful code and best practice
• Strong problem-solving abilities e.g., integrating with new applications, automating workflows, and speeding up processes
• Ability to work from our office based in Kuala Lumpur City Centre, Monday to Friday

Great If You Also Have

• Experience with the Materialize CSS framework
• Experience with Git
• Experience with MVC frameworks and OOP
• Experience integrating with ERPs, CRMs, or inventory systems
• Basic photoshop skills for basic image editing / manipulation.

Why Vuly

• You will see your work go live quickly and have a direct impact on customers and internal teams. The code you ship keeps orders flowing, stock accurate, and our sites trading in multiple countries.
• You will work with a tight, capable team that values straight talk and delivery. No layers of bureaucracy – you’ll be close to decisions and able to influence how things are built.
• You will get exposure to global operations, new markets, and serious growth plans, working on systems that support Australia, North America, the UK and Europe.
• You will join an expanding KL hub that is being built as a core part of Vuly. There is room to shape how we work, improve the codebase, and grow your role over time.
• You will focus on solving real business problems – automating manual work, speeding up processes, and making life easier for teammates – rather than chasing trends or writing code that never ships.

How To Apply

Please apply with your resume and a short cover letter outlining:

• How you meet the non-negotiables
• A recent project you are proud of, and your specific contribution

Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
