Full Stack Software Engineer (Flutter, Python & DevOps)

**Role Description :

Experienced (4+ years required) , hands-on Full Stack Software Engineer to develop, deploy, and maintain technology platforms serving the Ethiopian market.

Our projects include ERP, HRMS , ride-hailing, and invoice processing systems and related . Our technology stack includes React, Flutter, Python (FastAPI), PostgreSQL, and Redis.

We're looking for someone who can independently deliver reliable software, make sound technical decisions, and take ownership of applications from development through deployment and production maintenance.

You don't need to know every technology, but you should have strong engineering fundamentals, solid production experience, and the ability to solve complex technical problems with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

Software Development

• Design, develop, and maintain Flutter mobile applications and Python/FastAPI backend services.

• Build scalable REST APIs and integrate PostgreSQL, Redis, and third-party services (maps, GPS, notifications, payments).

• Make practical architectural decisions, improve code quality, and ensure application performance, security, and reliability.

• Troubleshoot complex issues, conduct code reviews, and implement appropriate testing practices.

DevOps & Server Management

• Independently deploy and maintain applications on cloud platforms like AWS, DigitalOcean, or similar cloud environments.

• Manage VPS, Linux servers, domains, SSL, environment variables, application services, and security configurations.

• Implement and maintain Docker environments, automated deployments, and CI/CD pipelines.

• Monitor production systems, investigate failures, and resolve deployment, performance, and availability issues.

Database Administration

• Design, maintain, and optimize PostgreSQL databases, including schemas, queries, indexes, and migrations.

• Manage database backups, recovery procedures, access permissions, and data integrity.

• Identify and resolve database performance bottlenecks.

• Configure and maintain Redis where required.

Technical Ownership & Continuous Improvement

• Take ownership of assigned systems and deliver features independently from requirements to production.

• Identify technical risks, recommend improvements, and make informed engineering trade-offs.

• Use AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity without compromising code quality.

• Maintain technical documentation, communicate progress, and support other developers when needed.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of professional software development experience, including hands-on experience delivering and maintaining production applications.

• Strong practical experience with Python and FastAPI, including REST API design, authentication, validation, and backend architecture.

• Solid PostgreSQL experience, including database design, SQL queries, migrations, indexing, and performance optimization.

• Experience with Flutter/Dart or demonstrated ability to work effectively on Flutter mobile applications.

• Working knowledge of Git, testing, debugging, and maintainable software design.

• Practical experience with Linux, SSH, application deployment, and basic server administration.

• Understanding of application security, API integrations, and production troubleshooting.

• Ability to independently investigate complex problems, make technical decisions, and deliver reliable solutions with minimal supervision.

• Strong communication, accountability, and ownership of assigned work.

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, supported by relevant practical experience.

Nice to Have

Experience with any of the following is an advantage:

• Backend & Databases: Frappe, Django, Redis, advanced PostgreSQL optimization, caching, and background tasks.

• Integrations & Real-Time Systems: Firebase Cloud Messaging, maps, GPS, WebSockets, and real-time applications.

• Industry Experience: Ride-hailing, logistics, transportation, payments, or ERP systems.

• Development Tools: GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Codex, Claude code, monitoring, and observability tools.
