Senior Full Stack Software Engineer

London | Up to £700 per day PAYE

Join a leading global investment management business, building high-performance front-office applications that support portfolio managers, investment professionals and trading workflows.

This is a high-impact engineering role combining hands-on full-stack development, scalable architecture and direct collaboration with front-office stakeholders.

What you'll be doing

• Design and build modern applications using React or Vue.js and Java-based back-end services.
• Develop distributed microservices, APIs and scalable enterprise architectures, with Python and Node.js also valuable.
• Work with relational and NoSQL databases, including PostgreSQL, MySQL and DynamoDB.
• Build and deploy cloud-based solutions using AWS, Azure or GCP, alongside CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
• Optimise application performance, security, reliability and production support.
• Lead technical design, code reviews and testing, resolve complex engineering challenges and mentor other developers.
• Work directly with portfolio managers, product owners and cross-functional teams to deliver technology supporting investment and trading activities.

What we're looking for

Technical expertise

• Extensive full-stack software engineering experience.
• Strong React or Vue.js skills and a solid understanding of UI/UX.
• Proven Java development experience, ideally with Python and Node.js.
• Strong knowledge of microservices, API design, distributed systems and scalable architecture.
• Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases, cloud platforms, CI/CD and automated testing.
• Understanding of application security, performance optimisation and enterprise production environments.

Financial services expertise

• Strong understanding of investment products, portfolio management and trading workflows.
• Experience in asset management, investment banking, capital markets or front-office financial technology.
• Ability to translate complex business requirements into secure, scalable technical solutions.
• Confidence working directly with investment professionals in a demanding financial services environment.

The opportunity

• Up to £700 per day PAYE , depending on experience.
• Work on business-critical investment technology for a major global financial services organisation.
• Direct engagement with portfolio managers and front-office decision-makers.
• Technical ownership across modern frontend engineering, Java microservices, cloud and enterprise architecture.

Location: London, hybrid working, with three days in the office - Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
