Responsibilities:

• Architectural Guidance & Migration Strategy: Advise senior leadership and the engineering team on transitioning business logic from legacy PHP (CBG Bill) to more modern target stack. Evaluate trade-offs, define API boundaries, and chart a pragmatic migration path without over-engineering.
• Hands-on Execution & Stabilization: Resolve critical bugs, improve system reliability, and refactor business-critical workflows.
• Domain & Logic Extraction: Deep-dive into undocumented business logic embedded within CBG Bill (contracts, commissions, rights, payments) and translate it into modular, modern architecture.
• AI-Augmented Engineering: Leverage AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot) daily to maximize output, accelerate refactoring, and establish modern developer workflows.
• Tech Stack Evolution: Drive incremental decoupling using modern backend and frontend patterns (APIs, microservices/BFF, Next.js, Node.js).

Must-have Skills

To be successful in this role, you must have:

• Seniority & Judgment: Staff/Lead level. You possess the maturity to operate independently, make sound architectural calls, challenge assumptions, and lead technical decisions without requiring constant oversight.
• Legacy PHP Fluency: Strong, practical experience with legacy PHP (e.g., Symfony, native PHP). You can navigate, debug, and safely refactor complex, monolithic codebases.
• Modern Stack Knowledge: Functional proficiency across our target ecosystem—specifically Next.js, Node.js, Symfony, and modern API architectures (GraphQL, REST, API Gateways). You do not need to be a top-tier expert in every single technology, but you must have sufficient depth to guide migration decisions with confidence.
• AI-Assisted Fluency (Non-Negotiable): Active proficiency with AI-assisted development tools (Cursor, Claude Code, Copilot).
• Collaboration Style: Pragmatic and team-oriented. You work "in the trenches" with other engineers rather than dictating design from above.

Nice-to-have:

• Financial or Royalty Systems Experience: Experience handling complex workflows involving rights, commissions, payments, or multi-currency transactions.
• Broader Multi-Stack Exposure: Familiarity with Python or .NET is a plus

• Comfort with Ambiguity: Ability to extract requirements, establish order, and build momentum while business processes and domain knowledge are still being documented.
• Executive Presence & Communication: Clear, articulate communication style suitable for interfacing directly with senior stakeholders
• Pioneer Mindset: Comfortable being a key senior anchor for Wizeline within this workstream, with the expectation of helping onboard and mentor expanding team members in 2027.
