Full Time Barista

The Barista is responsible for preparing and serving high-quality coffee, beverages, and other menu items according to the coffee shop’s standards. The Barista ensures excellent customer service, proper handling of equipment and ingredients, cleanliness of the bar and work area, and accurate processing of customer orders and payments.

II. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Beverage Preparation

• Prepare and serve coffee, espresso-based beverages, iced coffee, non-coffee drinks, and other beverages according to standard recipes and presentation guidelines.
• Operate espresso machines, coffee grinders, blenders, and other beverage equipment properly and safely.
• Ensure consistency in the taste, quality, temperature, and presentation of all beverages.
• Prepare ingredients and supplies needed for daily operations.
• Monitor the freshness and quality of coffee beans, milk, syrups, powders, and other ingredients.

Customer Service

• Welcome and assist customers in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner.
• Take and accurately confirm customer orders.
• Answer customers’ questions regarding beverages, ingredients, and menu items.
• Make recommendations when appropriate based on customer preferences.
• Handle customer concerns and refer complaints to the Supervisor or Manager when necessary.
• Maintain a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere within the coffee shop.

Cashiering and Order Processing

• Receive and accurately process customer orders and payments when assigned.
• Operate the POS/cashiering system properly.
• Issue receipts and ensure that all transactions are properly recorded.
• Account for cash, credit/debit card, and other payment transactions in accordance with company procedures.
• Assist in daily sales reconciliation when assigned.

Food and Beverage Handling

• Follow proper food safety and sanitation procedures in handling beverages, ingredients, and food items.
• Observe proper personal hygiene, including appropriate uniform and grooming standards.
• Ensure proper storage, labeling, and handling of ingredients.
• Monitor expiration dates and report spoiled, damaged, or insufficient supplies to the Supervisor.

Cleaning and Sanitation

• Keep the coffee bar, counters, tables, equipment, utensils, and surrounding areas clean and orderly.
• Clean and sanitize espresso machines, grinders, blenders, refrigerators, and other equipment according to established procedures.
• Wash and properly store utensils, glassware, cups, and other service items.
• Dispose of waste properly and maintain proper waste segregation.
• Perform opening and closing cleaning duties as assigned.

Inventory and Supplies

• Monitor inventory levels of coffee beans, milk, syrups, cups, lids, straws, and other supplies.
• Inform the Supervisor of low-stock, damaged, or missing items.
• Assist in receiving, checking, and storing deliveries when assigned.
• Minimize product wastage and use ingredients responsibly.

Equipment and Workplace Safety

• Operate coffee shop equipment only in accordance with proper procedures.
• Immediately report defective or malfunctioning equipment to the Supervisor.
• Observe workplace safety, fire safety, and emergency procedures.
• Prevent spills, burns, slips, and other hazards in the work area.

Teamwork and General Operations

• Coordinate with other Baristas, Waiters, Cashiers, Kitchen Staff, and Supervisors to ensure smooth operations.
• Assist other areas of the coffee shop when necessary and within the scope of the position.
• Maintain punctuality, proper attendance, and professional conduct.
• Follow company policies, procedures, work instructions, and reasonable directives of management.
• Perform other related duties that may be assigned by the Restaurant Manager or Supervisor.
