Full Time IP CDI Specialist

The HIMpros is seeking an experienced Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) Specialist for a 100% remote contract or contract to hire opportunity. We are looking for a strong CDI professional with an RN or MD clinical background and current CDI certification.

What You'll Do

• Perform concurrent and retrospective reviews of inpatient medical records.
• Identify documentation opportunities impacting severity of illness, risk of mortality, quality measures, and reimbursement.
• Assign and validate working MS-DRGs.
• Develop compliant physician queries to clarify clinical documentation.
• Collaborate with physicians, coding, and other healthcare professionals.
• Meet established productivity, quality, and query standards.
• Ensure compliance with official coding guidelines and CDI best practices.

Required Qualifications

• RN (Registered Nurse) OR MD (Medical Doctor) – REQUIRED
• CCDS OR CDIP certification – REQUIRED
• Recent inpatient/acute care CDI experience.
• Strong knowledge of MS-DRGs, CC/MCC capture, SOI/ROM, and clinical validation.
• Experience writing compliant physician queries.
• Experience with Epic, Cerner, Solventum/3M, Iodine, or similar CDI/EMR platforms preferred.
• Strong communication, critical-thinking, and clinical documentation review skills.
