Position: Full-Time Mobile Automotive Technician
Schedule: Monday–Saturday | 10:00 AM–7:00 PM
Pay: $600–$1,000 per week, depending on experience, demonstrated skill level, and job volume

Johnny on the Go is looking for an experienced, dependable, and motivated Mobile Automotive Technician to join our growing team full-time.

This is not an entry-level position. We are looking for a technician who can confidently diagnose vehicles, perform repairs independently, and think on the spot when working in a mobile environment.

Our technicians work throughout the Orlando area servicing customers directly at their homes, workplaces, and other approved locations.

What We’re Looking For

The ideal technician must be able to:

• Diagnose automotive problems accurately
• Perform general maintenance and repairs independently
• Use scan tools, multimeters, and other diagnostic equipment
• Read and interpret trouble codes and live vehicle data
• Follow diagnostic procedures instead of guessing or throwing parts at a vehicle
• Work independently without constant supervision
• Think on the spot and find solutions when unexpected situations arise
• Know when a job can be safely completed mobile and when additional assistance or equipment is required
• Communicate professionally with customers and management
• Properly document diagnostic findings, repairs, recommendations, photos, and work performed

YOU MUST HAVE YOUR OWN TOOLS

Applicants are required to have their own professional automotive hand tools necessary to perform everyday repairs and diagnostics.

Johnny on the Go provides the company service vehicle and various specialty equipment, but technicians are expected to arrive properly equipped with their own standard professional tool set.

Diagnostic Ability Is Required

We are specifically looking for someone who can diagnose vehicles, not just replace parts.

You should be comfortable diagnosing concerns involving areas such as:

• Check Engine Lights
• No-start conditions
• Charging and starting systems
• Batteries and alternators
• Cooling systems
• Brakes
• Suspension and steering
• Electrical concerns
• Misfires and drivability problems
• Sensors and related circuits
• Common mechanical failures

We expect our technicians to use their knowledge, testing equipment, service information, and critical thinking to determine the actual cause of a customer's concern.

Guessing, experimenting on customer vehicles, or replacing parts without proper testing is not acceptable.

Independent Problem Solver

Mobile automotive repair is different from working inside a traditional repair shop.

You will not always have another technician standing next to you.

We need someone who can arrive at a customer's vehicle, evaluate the situation, diagnose the problem, develop a repair plan, and get the job completed safely and professionally.

You must be someone who can think on your feet, adapt to changing situations, and solve problems independently.

At the same time, a professional technician must know their limits. If a repair requires two technicians, specialized shop equipment, excessive disassembly, or cannot safely be performed mobile, the technician is expected to properly document the findings and communicate with management so the appropriate next step can be determined.

Schedule Requirements

Applicants must have availability:

Monday through Saturday
10:00 AM–7:00 PM

Technicians must remain available during their scheduled hours and respond promptly to dispatch.

If a repair is already in progress near the end of the scheduled workday, the technician is expected to safely complete the job.

Technicians may not rush repairs, leave vehicles improperly assembled, or abandon an active job simply because the scheduled time has ended.

Daily Responsibilities

Technicians may be responsible for:

• Reporting to the designated company location
• Picking up the assigned Johnny on the Go service vehicle
• Inspecting the service vehicle before beginning the day
• Confirming required equipment and supplies are present
• Reviewing scheduled appointments and work orders
• Remaining available for dispatch
• Traveling to customer locations throughout the Orlando service area
• Performing diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs
• Communicating findings and recommendations
• Taking required photos and documentation
• Completing accurate technician notes
• Maintaining a clean and professional work area
• Keeping the company vehicle organized
• Returning the company vehicle and equipment as instructed

Compensation

$600–$1,000 per week

Compensation will depend on:

• Professional automotive experience
• Diagnostic ability
• Repair capabilities
• Ability to work independently
• Efficiency and productivity
• Quality of work
• Reliability
• Job volume

Technicians who demonstrate stronger diagnostic capabilities, broader repair knowledge, efficiency, professionalism, and the ability to handle a larger variety of jobs independently will qualify toward the higher end of the pay range.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants should have:

• Professional automotive repair experience
• Strong mechanical knowledge
• Automotive diagnostic experience
• Own professional automotive tools
• Valid driver's license
• Reliable transportation to our company location
• Ability to safely operate a company service vehicle
• Ability to work independently
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Professional customer-service skills
• Good communication skills
• Ability to follow company procedures
• Ability to properly document work performed
