Shift: 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM

Position Overview

Martha’s Vineyard, Grand Rapids’ premier fine wine and gourmet grocery store, is seeking a dependable, professional, and experienced Shift Lead to oversee evening operations. As a shift lead you will be responsible for maintaining a safe, organized, and welcoming environment while managing and supporting different store teams throughout the evening.

The Shift Lead will uphold the highest standards of customer service, leading by example and setting the tone for professionalism, teamwork, and exceptional service across all departments.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee evening operations of Martha's Vineyard
• Manage, supervise, and support different store teams during the 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM shift
• Uphold and exemplify the highest customer service standards
• Ensure store is properly stocked, organized, cleaned and operating according to company standards
• Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to team members
• Handle and verify cash, credit card transactions, deposits, and other financial transactions according to company procedures
• Maintain accurate cash-handling records and ensure proper end-of-shift cash reconciliation
• Serve as a designated key holder, maintaining responsibility for store keys
• Close store as required and ensure all security and closing procedures are followed
• Address employee and customer concerns in a professional and timely manner
• Respond appropriately to emergencies and unexpected situations
• Complete daily reports, logs, cash reports, and other required documentation
• Communicate important information, staffing issues, and operational updates to management
• Follow all company policies, safety procedures, cash-handling procedures, and security protocols

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

• Requires the use of hands for reaching, touching, or handling and fine finger movements.
• Requires the ability to push, pull, maneuver, or lift objects up to 50 lbs. frequently
• Requires the ability to bend, kneel, squat, stoop, walk, and stand for duration of shift.
• Work is performed in a retail store with quiet to moderate noise level.
• Frequently exposed to cold and hot conditions (non-weather).
• Frequently exposed to wet, slippery, or damp conditions.
• Frequently exposed to and requires the use of equipment with sharp blades or edges.
• Qualifications
• Previous management, hospitality, retail, security, or operations experience preferred
• Experience managing multiple teams or locations is a plus
• Previous cash-handling experience required
• Key holder or opening/closing experience preferred
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Reliable, responsible, and comfortable directing multiple teams
• Strong customer service mindset with a commitment to leading by example
• Ability to remain calm and professional in unexpected situations
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work weekends and holidays as required
• Must be dependable and punctual

Compensation & Schedule

$25.00 per hour, full-time
Shift: 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM
