What they need

The best Functional Consultants don't start with the system.

They start by understanding the problem.

They want to know how the business actually works, what's getting in people's way and whether the answer is a better process, better use of the ERP or something entirely different.

That's the opportunity here.

Our client is undertaking a major transformation of its enterprise technology environment, with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations at its centre.

They're looking for someone who can bring strong functional knowledge together with a genuine understanding of the people and processes behind the technology.

Why this role matters

This isn't about taking an existing process and simply recreating it in a new ERP.

You'll work directly with operational stakeholders to understand what they're trying to achieve, challenge assumptions and identify where processes, workflows or technology could work better.

From there, you'll use your knowledge of Dynamics to shape the right functional solution and translate it clearly for Developers and technical specialists.

Sometimes the answer will be better use of D365. Sometimes it may be a process change, different workflow or automation.

The focus is whether the solution actually works for the people using it, not simply whether the system has been configured.

The role

You'll work across the ERP delivery lifecycle, from discovery and process analysis through to functional design, mapping, configuration, testing and UAT.

Dynamics 365 F&O will be central to your work. You'll map requirements into Dynamics, define the functional logic Developers need to work from and help shape solutions that are practical for the people using them.

That could mean defining how a business requirement should work within Dynamics, identifying the right functional process or helping a stakeholder understand how the platform could solve a problem differently.

Rather than delivering one part of an implementation and moving on, you'll stay close to the business and see solutions through from the original problem to how they're actually used.

And because you're joining early in the transformation, you'll have the opportunity to influence how that capability develops rather than inheriting an environment where the major decisions have already been made.

The organisation

Our client is a long-established Australian manufacturing and distribution organisation with operations across Australia and almost 900 employees.

Significant investment is being made across Dynamics 365, Azure, automation, AI and modern cloud technologies as the organisation builds a more connected technology environment.

You'll join a growing internal technology capability and work closely with both technical teams and the people using these systems every day.

About you

You're likely to be an experienced Functional Consultant with strong enterprise ERP knowledge, ideally within a Dynamics 365 F&O environment.

You could also be a strong D365 F&O Business Analyst who has developed genuine functional capability and is ready to take the next step in your career.

Either way, you'll need to understand more than requirements gathering. You'll know how business processes translate into ERP functionality and be comfortable turning a stakeholder need into something a technical team can deliver.

Dynamics 365 F&O experience will be highly regarded. Relevant Microsoft Dynamics 365 functional certification or training, such as the Finance Functional Consultant Associate certification, would also be advantageous but isn't mandatory.

Just as important is how you work.

You're curious enough to ask why before jumping to a solution. You can challenge an existing process without telling people how to do their jobs, and you're comfortable working with everyone from operational stakeholders through to Developers and senior technology leaders.

Working arrangements

This is a permanent role based near Blacktown in Western Sydney, working five days per week in the office with flexibility as required. .

You'll work closely with the technology team and operational stakeholders throughout the transformation.
