What they need

Position Summary

This position is designed to grow gradually with the practice. The dietitian will begin at approximately 4 hours per week, initially focused on training, administrative support, discovery calls, shadowing, and a small number of client-care responsibilities. As the dietitian develops competency and begins carrying more clients, weekly hours will increase based on caseload and practice needs, with the goal of building toward a consistent one-day-per-week schedule and potentially beyond as demand grows.

Nourishing Ways Center primarily works with clients seeking support for digestive and gut health concerns, weight-loss resistance, metabolic health, inflammation, and related functional health concerns. Many clients may also have overlapping hormone, stress, sleep, autoimmune, or nutritional issues. The dietitian will be trained in the practice's functional nutrition approach, including food and lifestyle interventions, nutritional supplements, and functional laboratory testing.

Primary Responsibilities

· Provide individualized nutrition counseling and follow-up care for assigned clients within the dietitian's demonstrated level of competency.

· Review health histories, food journals, laboratory information, body-composition data, symptoms, lifestyle factors, and current supplements as appropriate to the client's plan of care.

· Develop practical nutrition, meal-planning, lifestyle, and behavior-change recommendations consistent with Nourishing Ways Center protocols.

· Document client encounters thoroughly and complete charting, follow-up notes, care plans, and patient-specific communication in a timely manner.

· Recognize when a case, test result, supplement question, or clinical concern should be escalated to the practice owner for additional guidance.

Training & Professional Development

· Complete paid onboarding and ongoing training in the practice's functional and integrative approach to nutrition care.

· Learn the supplement companies and products commonly used by Nourishing Ways Center, including primary uses, typical dosing ranges, contraindications, medication-supplement interactions, product forms, and appropriate client education.

· Learn the practice's supplement protocols and phased approaches, including when an established protocol may be followed and when individualized clinical review is required.

· Develop familiarity with functional testing used in the practice, which may include stool testing, hormone testing, organic-acid/metabolomic testing, micronutrient testing, and other specialty labs.

· Participate in shadowing, case review, sample-case exercises, and supervised client care while developing independence.

· Maintain current professional knowledge and apply evidence-informed clinical judgment within the dietitian's scope of practice.

Administrative & Practice Support

· Conduct discovery calls as sales/fit calls to explain the practice, services, testing options, program structure, and next steps without providing individualized nutrition treatment during the call.

· Assist with scheduling, client follow-up, chart preparation, forms, handouts, educational materials, office projects, and other appropriate practice-support tasks.

· Help organize supplement and testing resources and become familiar with practice workflows and documentation systems.

· Accurately track time according to administrative/training versus clinical responsibilities.

Clinical Responsibilities as Caseload Builds

  • · Begin with straightforward or lower-complexity clients and gradually take on additional clients as competency and confidence develop.
  • · Review client progress, adjust nutrition and lifestyle recommendations, and provide patient-specific supplement guidance once trained and authorized to do so.
  • · Review functional laboratory results with clients only after completing the appropriate training and demonstrating competency with the test and the practice's interpretation process.
  • · Collaborate with the practice owner on complex cases, significant lab abnormalities, medication considerations, or clients who are not responding as expected.

Qualifications

  • · Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN/RD) credential in good standing.
  • · Strong interest in functional, integrative, and root-cause nutrition.
  • · Some familiarity with nutritional supplements is helpful; extensive functional-medicine supplement or specialty-testing experience is not required because training will be provided.
  • · Willingness to learn functional testing, supplement protocols, and the Nourishing Ways Center clinical approach.
  • · Comfortable communicating with clients, building rapport, and explaining services during discovery calls.
  • · Organized, dependable, detail-oriented, and able to complete documentation and follow-through consistently.
  • · Able to work independently while also asking questions and seeking supervision when a case exceeds current training or competency.

Ideal Candidate

  • Enjoys working one-on-one with clients and helping them make realistic nutrition and lifestyle changes.
  • Is curious, teachable, and interested in developing advanced knowledge of supplements and functional laboratory testing.
  • Values a personalized approach rather than a one-size-fits-all model.
  • Is interested in starting with limited hours and growing into a larger role as the client caseload develops.
  • Interest in gut health, metabolic health, and weight management

Join us to be part of a passionate team dedicated to transforming lives through innovative nutritional care!

Pay: $24.00 - $38.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 4.0 per week

Application Question(s):

  • Are you available to start at approximately 4 hours per week, with the potential for hours to increase as your client caseload grows?
  • How would you describe your current experience with nutritional supplements?
  • How much experience do you have with functional nutrition testing such as stool testing, hormone testing, organic acid testing, or micronutrient testing?
  • This position includes client care as well as some administrative work and discovery calls with prospective clients. Are you comfortable with these responsibilities?
