Functional Skills Tutor - Alternative Provision

Duties

• Deliver targeted functional skills lessons in areas such as numeracy, literacy, and life skills to students within an alternative education setting
• Develop individualized learning plans that meet each student’s unique needs and goals
• Use innovative teaching methods and resources to engage students actively in their learning process
• Monitor student progress regularly, providing constructive feedback and adjusting approaches as needed
• Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment that encourages confidence and independence
• Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and external agencies to support student development holistically
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress reports, and lesson plans in compliance with organizational policies

Experience

• Proven experience in tutoring or teaching, preferably within special education or alternative provision settings
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with children and young people facing diverse learning challenges
• Strong communication skills to clearly convey concepts and build rapport with students of varying abilities
• Knowledge of current educational practices related to functional skills development
• Ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet individual student needs and promote engagement
• Experience working collaboratively within a team environment to support student progress

Pay: £35.00 per hour
