Functional Test Engineer

Experience: 5-7 years

Base Location: Crestech Office Noida (may be required to work from the client location in Noida on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.).

Role focus: Functional testing, release quality, stakeholder communication, and team guidance.

The Senior Functional Tester will own testing for assigned modules and releases, ensure comprehensive test coverage, and proactively manage quality risks, dependencies, and delivery commitments.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, review, and execute test scenarios and cases for functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing.
• Apply test design techniques such as equivalence partitioning, boundary value analysis, decision tables, and state transitions.
• Analyze requirements, identify gaps and ambiguities, and work with business and development teams to clarify acceptance criteria.
• Take end-to-end ownership of test planning, execution, defect tracking, retesting, and test closure for assigned modules and releases.
• Estimate testing effort, track progress, and manage dependencies to meet agreed delivery timelines.
• Log clear, reproducible defects and drive defect triage, prioritization, and resolution based on severity and business impact.
• Proactively identify quality and delivery risks, escalate critical issues promptly, and recommend mitigation actions.
• Communicate testing status, coverage, blockers, and release readiness clearly to clients and internal stakeholders.
• Actively manage stakeholder expectations and respond to client queries professionally.
• Analyze production defects and testing gaps to improve coverage and reduce defect leakage.
• Guide team members in test planning, test design, execution, and defect management.
• Provide test summary reports and evidence-based recommendations for release sign-off.

Required Skills and Experience

• 57 years of hands-on functional testing experience.
• Strong understanding of the SDLC, STLC, defect lifecycle, and Agile delivery practices.
• Proven experience in regression, integration, and end-to-end testing.
• Experience with defect and test management tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, TestRail, or ALM.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to prioritize testing based on business impact and risk.
• Demonstrated ownership of testing deliverables and experience communicating directly with clients.
• Clear written and verbal communication, with the ability to guide and support team members.

Preferred Skills

• API testing using Postman and SQL for backend data validation.
• Exposure to exploratory, usability, accessibility, and cross-platform testing.
• Experience collaborating with automation teams to identify suitable regression scenarios for automation.
