What they need
Fund Controller— Private Credit
Overview
A leading alternative investment platform is looking for a CPA to join its fund finance team and take ownership of accounting and financial reporting for its BDC and private credit vehicles. This is a high-visibility seat at the center of the platform's credit business, sitting at the intersection of portfolio management, investor relations, auditors, and fund administrators rather than tucked away in a reporting silo.
The work spans some of the most technically interesting products in credit, including BDCs, direct lending, and structured credit vehicles such as CLOs, with real ownership over waterfall mechanics, allocations, and how the numbers ultimately get communicated to investors. You'll be a trusted voice the business relies on, not just a preparer of numbers others review.
What You'll Own
- Own accounting and financial reporting for BDC, private credit, and CLO investment vehicles
- Manage monthly close, NAV reporting, allocations, fund returns, and waterfall calculations
- Oversee third-party fund administrators handling investor reporting, audits, capital calls, distributions, and quarterly statements. You set the standard, they execute to it
- Review audited financial statements and footnote disclosures
- Analyze distribution waterfalls and performance fee calculations against governing documents
- Stay close to fund credit facility compliance and the underlying portfolio, so you always understand what's driving the numbers
- Be the trusted point of contact for investors and internal stakeholders on NAVs, performance, and fund activity
- Partner directly with auditors, tax advisors, investor relations, valuation, and portfolio management
- Contribute to SEC and regulatory reporting
- Bring ideas for process improvements and control enhancements and see them actually implemented
What You Bring
- Active CPA
- 7+ years of accounting or fund finance experience in BDCs, direct lending, private credit, structured products, or alternative investments
- A combination of public accounting and in-house asset management experience is a strong plus
- Solid grasp of fund accounting, financial reporting, allocations, and waterfalls
- Comfort overseeing third-party fund administrators is a plus
- Background at an asset manager, BDC, hedge fund, or private equity firm is a plus
- Strong communicator who thrives managing multiple priorities independently in a fast-paced environment
