About Fresh Start
Fresh Start helps people facing a period of crisis get the fresh start they deserve. Founded by Victor Oliveira, known to millions online as The Good Boss, Fresh Start turns street outreach and social media into real outcomes: community members and partners contribute directly to an individual's detox, treatment, housing, and essentials, and every dollar is tracked and accounted for. We are a small, fast-moving team with a very large audience, and we are building the partnerships that will let us help far more people.
Position Summary
The Fundraising Intern helps Fresh Start find, pitch, and close new funding partnerships. You will research and build a pipeline of businesses, brands, community organizations, and individuals who want to put their name behind our mission, then help turn those conversations into signed partnerships and contributions. This is a hands-on, results-driven role for someone who wants real business development experience and the chance to earn more as they bring in more. Your work will feed directly into our 100 Fresh Starts campaign and our Founding Partner program.
What You Will Do
1. Build the Pipeline
Prospect research: identify local and national businesses, brands, foundations, civic groups, and high-capacity individuals whose values align with our mission;
Qualify leads: find the right decision maker, understand what they care about, and rate each prospect by fit and potential size;
Track everything: log every prospect, touchpoint, and next step in our CRM and task system so nothing falls through the cracks.
2. Open Doors and Pitch
Outreach: run personalized email, LinkedIn, phone, and in-person outreach to open conversations with prospective partners;
Pitch: present our partnership tiers and pitch materials clearly and confidently, and tailor the story to each partner;
Book the meeting: schedule discovery calls and meetings for yourself, the Growth & Partnerships Manager, the COO, or Victor, and prepare a short brief before each one.
3. Help Close and Steward Partners
Follow-up: drive timely follow-up, send proposals, answer questions, and keep deals moving to a decision;
Onboarding: help new partners get set up, including agreements, invoicing handoff, logo and recognition assets, and a clear welcome;
Stewardship: keep partners informed and appreciated with updates and impact stories so they renew and refer others.
4. Support Campaigns and Events
Campaigns: support partner fundraising challenges, matching opportunities, and sponsor drives tied to our campaign goals;
Events: help source event sponsors and attend select events, activations, and community gatherings to meet prospects;
Materials: help keep pitch decks, one-pagers, and partner lists current and on brand.
Compensation
This is a paid position. The Fundraising Intern earns an hourly wage and is eligible for a 5% commission on new business generated, with no cap.
How Success Is Measured
New partnership revenue collected against your monthly and term goals.
Number of qualified prospects added to the pipeline each week.
Outreach volume and response rate, and meetings booked per week.
Proposals sent and conversion rate from meeting to signed partner.
CRM accuracy: every prospect, touchpoint, and next step logged and current.
Who You Are
Driven: you are motivated by goals and excited by the upside of an uncapped commission.
Great communicator: you write clear, warm, persuasive emails and are confident on the phone and in person.
Organized: you manage many conversations at once and follow up without being reminded.
Resourceful: you can find the right person at almost any company.
Mission-aligned: you care about helping people facing addiction, homelessness, and crisis, and you treat every person's story with dignity and discretion.
Background: current college student or recent graduate in business, marketing, communications, nonprofit management, or a related field preferred. Sales, fundraising, or customer-facing experience is a plus but not required.
Tools: comfortable with Google Workspace, LinkedIn, and social media. CRM experience is a plus.
What You Will Gain
Real business development and partnership experience with measurable results for your resume.
Direct mentorship from Fresh Start leadership and exposure to a fast-growing social enterprise.
Uncapped earning potential through a 5% commission on new business generated.
Academic credit support where your school allows it, and a strong reference for strong results.
A potential path to a permanent partnerships role.
Working Expectations
Slack is our system of record for daily communication, and tasks are tracked in our task management system. Partner commitments, pricing, and agreements are approved by the COO or Founder before they are offered. Interns never promise treatment outcomes, admissions, or specific client placements, and never share client information. You will be subject to all Fresh Start policies, including confidentiality, code of conduct, and drug-free workplace policies. Compensation and other terms are set out in your separate offer letter, which controls where it differs from this description.
Fresh Start may reasonably adjust these duties from time to time consistent with the nature of the role.
