Fundraising & Community Partnerships Coordinator

Organization: T.U.F.F. (Teaching Us Fitness & Fundamentals)
Schedule: Part-time, 20 hours per week
Location: New York City — [work arrangement]
Compensation: TBD

About TUFF

T.U.F.F. (Teaching Us Fitness & Fundamentals) empowers youth and strengthens communities across New York City through education, fitness, and financial literacy. Its programs combine basketball, physical fitness, and practical money-management education to help young people develop healthy habits, teamwork, confidence, and skills for their future.

Serving children and young people in underserved communities, TUFF connects youth with resources and opportunities that support their growth on and off the court.

About the Role

TUFF seeks an organized, outgoing Fundraising & Community Partnerships Coordinator to grow financial support, build community relationships, and raise awareness of its programs.

Working closely with leadership, this person will connect donors, businesses, and nonprofit partners with meaningful ways to support TUFF’s work. The role combines fundraising outreach, relationship management, and event coordination within a 20-hour workweek.

Key Responsibilities

Fundraising and donor relationships

  • Identify and research prospective donors, corporate sponsors, local businesses, and relevant grant opportunities.
  • Help prepare donation requests, sponsorship proposals, and fundraising materials that explain TUFF’s programs and funding needs.
  • Build relationships with new and existing supporters through regular outreach, follow-up, and donor appreciation.
  • Seek in-kind contributions such as sports equipment, program supplies, refreshments, event space, and professional services.

Community partnerships and networking

  • Develop relationships with nonprofit organizations, schools, community leaders, and businesses.
  • Identify nonprofit networking gatherings, galas, community events, and business events where TUFF can connect with potential supporters.
  • Recommend participation based on mission fit, potential relationships, cost, and staff time.
  • Explore joint fundraising activities and partnerships that support TUFF’s youth programs.
  • Represent TUFF professionally and communicate its mission with respect for the children and families it serves.

Events and outreach

  • Help plan and coordinate fundraising events, donation drives, and donor engagement activities.
  • Find opportunities for TUFF to participate in existing events through partnerships, sponsorships, or community outreach.
  • Coordinate event logistics, sponsor follow-up, and volunteer involvement with leadership support.
  • Assist with fundraising and event promotion through email, social media, and community outreach.
  • Track event results and follow up with new contacts to build lasting relationships.

Organization and reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of donor contacts, outreach, contributions, and partnership opportunities.
  • Keep a calendar of fundraising activities, events, and grant deadlines.
  • Provide brief progress updates and track results against goals agreed upon with leadership.
  • Follow TUFF’s policies for handling donations, donor information, and stories or images involving children.

Qualifications

  • Experience in fundraising, community outreach, nonprofit work, sales, relationship management, or event coordination.
  • Strong communication, organization, and follow-through skills.
  • Confidence introducing an organization, building relationships, and asking for support.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize effectively within a part-time schedule.
  • Comfort using email, spreadsheets, social media, and basic contact-management tools.
  • Commitment to youth development and respectful engagement with underserved communities.

New York City community connections and experience securing sponsorships or supporting fundraising events are preferred. Relevant community or volunteer experience is welcome.

Schedule and Expectations

This position is 20 hours per week, with occasional evening or weekend work for scheduled events. Event attendance and workload will be coordinated with leadership to stay within the agreed schedule.

Leadership and the coordinator will establish realistic fundraising and outreach priorities based on available time and resources. Success includes consistent donor follow-up, productive community partnerships, well-organized fundraising activities, and progress toward agreed-upon funding goals.
