We are looking for an energetic Fundraiser who can bring their own strengths to a collaborative team. Purpose of role

To help Menphys grow sustainable income and long term supporter relationships as part of a flexible fundraising team. The role will be shaped around the successful candidate's strengths, with opportunities to contribute across community fundraising, events, partnerships, individual giving, trusts, stewardship and campaigns.

What the team does

Our fundraising team works across the areas below. No one person is expected to lead on all of them. We organise responsibilities around strengths, experience, capacity and development, while working together towards shared income and relationship goals.

Community fundraising & events

·  Develop accessible community fundraising, events and challenge activity that creates income and brings new people into Menphys.

·  Support flagship events and third party fundraisers, helping supporters turn ideas into successful activity.

·  Plan activity safely and evaluate income, costs, engagement and future potential.

Relationships & partnerships

·  Build relationships with businesses, venues, schools, clubs, community groups and other organisations that share our values.

·  Develop partnerships that move beyond one off support into repeat fundraising, sponsorship, volunteering and longer term involvement.

·  Represent Menphys externally, maintain a healthy prospect pipeline and follow up opportunities promptly.

Individual giving & supporter stewardship

·  Grow individual giving through appeals, regular giving, challenges and supporter journeys that make it easy to stay involved.

·  Welcome, thank and steward supporters consistently, using engagement and feedback to strengthen relationships over time.

Trust fundraising

·  Research charitable trusts and foundations that align with Menphys' priorities and the needs of disabled children, young people and families.

·  Develop strong trust applications with colleagues, turning service need, impact evidence, budgets and stories into clear cases for support.

·  Build relationships with trusts, manage reporting and stewardship, and help one off awards develop into trusted long term partnerships. Larger institutional funding bids remain CEO led.

Campaigns, digital fundraising & storytelling

·  Create engaging fundraising content for social media, email, website and in person campaigns, with clear opportunities to donate, attend, fundraise or partner with us.

·  Work with colleagues to capture authentic impact stories while protecting consent, dignity and the Menphys brand.

Income, performance & compliance

·  Work towards agreed income and activity targets, monitoring budgets, expenditure and return on investment.

·  Maintain accurate supporter and funder records, with clear pipeline, next steps, income, risks and opportunities.

·  Follow safeguarding, GDPR, fundraising regulation, financial controls and Menphys policies, and work collaboratively across the charity.

Person specification

We care more about the person, their values and the strengths they could bring than finding someone who has done every part of fundraising before. You may come from fundraising, sales, business development, account management, partnerships, events or trust fundraising. We want to understand what you are good at, what gives you energy and where you could add most value to the team.

Values & approach

Strong alignment with Menphys' values and a genuine commitment to improving opportunities for disabled children, young people and families.

Warmth, integrity, curiosity, accountability and a willingness to contribute as part of a team where people play to their strengths.

Experience in a purpose led, community, charity or values led environment.

Income generation

Evidence that you can create opportunities and turn relationships, ideas or applications into income, support or action. This could come from fundraising, sales, business development, account management, partnerships, events or trust fundraising.

Direct fundraising experience in one or more areas, including trusts, community, corporate, events, individual giving or challenge fundraising.

Relationships

A natural relationship builder who is comfortable meeting new people, understanding what matters to them and developing trust over time.

Experience making ‘asks’, developing partnerships, managing accounts or turning initial interest into ongoing support.

Planning & delivery

Self motivated and organised, able to manage opportunities, follow up consistently, meet deadlines and take ownership of work from idea through to delivery.

Experience managing a sales, fundraising, partnership, events or trust pipeline.

Organisation & finance

Comfortable working towards income goals, keeping accurate records and understanding the basic relationship between income, cost and return.

Knowledge of fundraising regulation, GDPR or charity fundraising practice.

What success could look like

·  Income growing across the areas of fundraising you take ownership of.

·  Strong relationships with supporters, businesses, community partners and funders that lead to repeat support.

·  A healthy pipeline of opportunities, including trusts, with clear next steps and consistent follow up.

·  Supporters and funders receiving thoughtful stewardship and seeing the difference their support makes.

·  Campaigns, events, partnerships or applications with clear goals, measurable results and appropriate return on investment.

·  A fundraiser who develops a clear area of strength while contributing positively across the wider team.

Our approach to fundraising

At Menphys, fundraising is about more than a transaction. We want supporters and funders to understand our work, feel part of our community and see the difference their support makes. We also know strong fundraising teams are made up of different strengths. Some people are brilliant relationship builders, some are particularly strong at trust applications, some thrive at events, and others love stewardship, individual giving or developing new income opportunities. We want people to do more of the work they are good at, while developing their wider fundraising skills.

Special factors

·  The role will involve external meetings, events and community activity depending on the areas you take ownership of. Evening and weekend work is required.

·  Appointment will be subject to eligibility to work in the UK and any safeguarding checks appropriate to the role.

·  The postholder must follow Menphys policies including safeguarding, data protection, health and safety, equality, diversity and inclusion, and financial controls.

How to apply

Please submit your CV and a supporting statement explaining why you would like to join Menphys, where your fundraising strengths sit and how your experience meets the essential criteria. We are particularly interested in practical examples and the results you achieved.
