5pm-5am - 3 days on, 3 days off (36 to 48 hours/wk); must be able to work weekends and holidays - $18.72/hr. to start; regular increases; Union shop.

Seeking a highly motivated, self starting assistant to monitor and maintain glass melting furnaces. No experience necessary, however, applicants must have good attitude, possess critical thinking skills and and be able follow directions exactly.

The furnace assistant is responsible for performing various tasks necessary in maintaining glass melting furnaces and related equipment to make our custom specialty molded glass products. Daily tasks may include the handling of raw material, monitoring furnaces and set-up of manufacturing equipment. The furnace operators must be able to follow detailed instructions.

The successful candidate must have an eye for detail and be able to work independently in a busy manufacturing environment. Special attention to the timing and temperatures required. Flexibility in work assignments is necessary as production needs frequently change.

Equipment, tools and machines monitored/used in the furnace department may include but are not limited to glass melting furnaces, annealing ovens, temperature gauges, forklifts.

The furnace assistant's position is highly physical and the applicant must be able to frequently or continuously walk, stand, bend, reach, lift and carry materials used in operations, and move heavy equipment.
