Furnace Operator

Pay: $28–$34/hour DOE

Night Shift Differential: Additional $2/hour

Location: On-site – Conroe, Texas

Schedule: 12-hour rotating day and night shifts (7 days on/4 days off, 7 days on/3 days off)

About Hertha Metals

Hertha Metals is transforming the steel industry through innovative, cleaner, and more efficient steelmaking technology. We are seeking experienced Furnace Operators to support iron and steelmaking operations at our pilot production facility in Conroe, Texas.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor industrial furnaces and steelmaking equipment.
• Maintain equipment, including feeders, transformers, valves, cooling systems, and conveyors.
• Monitor furnace temperatures, material flow, and production processes.
• Perform routine inspections, minor repairs, and preventive maintenance.
• Identify equipment malfunctions and assist with troubleshooting.
• Operate cranes, conveyors, and material handling equipment.
• Record production data, including temperatures, flow rates, and metal and slag measurements.
• Follow safety procedures and monitor emissions control equipment.
• Collaborate with maintenance technicians, engineers, and production supervisors.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and industrial equipment knowledge.
• Basic computer, reading, writing, and communication skills.
• Ability to troubleshoot equipment and work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Ability to work 12-hour rotating day and night shifts.
• Required material transportation and handling licenses.
• Required hazardous and gas handling training certificates.

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in smelting operations.
• Experience in steel production, foundries, furnace operations, or related industrial environments.
• Associate degree in Industrial Maintenance, Process Technology, or a related technical field.
• Forklift certification.
