What they need

Gallery Manager

YANG Gallery is a contemporary fine art gallery located on Orchard Road, presenting exhibitions, art collaborations and a range of works including paintings, sculpture, photography, installations and other collectible pieces. The Singapore gallery also hosts cultural and commercial events alongside its exhibition programme.

The Role

The Gallery Manager will take responsibility for the smooth day-to-day running of the gallery while supporting exhibitions, visitor engagement, sales activity and event coordination.

This is a hands-on position suited to someone who is comfortable moving between gallery operations, client communication and the practical details behind exhibitions.

Your Main Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily gallery operations, presentation standards and visitor experience.
  • Coordinate exhibition setup, artwork placement, opening preparations and changes to displays.
  • Welcome visitors and provide appropriate information about featured artists and artworks.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with collectors, prospective buyers, corporate contacts and art enthusiasts.
  • Support artwork enquiries, sales discussions, quotations and follow-up with clients.
  • Coordinate appointments and private viewing arrangements.
  • Assist with exhibition openings, cultural programmes, media activities and collaborative events.
  • Maintain accurate records relating to artworks, visitors, sales enquiries and gallery activities.
  • Liaise with artists, suppliers, event partners and other parties involved in gallery programmes.
  • Monitor inventory, artwork condition and general presentation within the gallery.
  • Handle operational issues promptly and ensure the gallery remains organised and welcoming.

What You Bring

A background in art management, fine arts, arts administration, luxury retail, hospitality, events or a related field would be useful.

Previous gallery experience is preferred, although candidates with strong client-facing or luxury-sector experience and a genuine interest in contemporary art may also be considered.

You should be:

  • Confident when speaking with collectors and visitors.
  • Well organised and attentive to presentation details.
  • Comfortable discussing artwork in a professional setting.
  • Able to manage several activities around exhibitions and events.
  • Commercially aware without losing sight of the visitor experience.
  • Professional, personable and confident representing the gallery.
  • Willing to work during selected exhibitions, launches or gallery events when required.

Gallery Operations & Events

YANG Gallery's Singapore venue is a contemporary exhibition space of approximately 2,000 square feet and has been used for exhibitions, art lectures, cultural programmes, fashion events, corporate networking, media activities and collaboration events.

The manager will therefore have a varied schedule. One day may involve preparing the gallery for an exhibition, while another may focus on collector appointments, artwork enquiries, event coordination or routine operational matters.

What Success Looks Like

A well-managed gallery should feel organised, welcoming and professionally presented. Exhibitions need to run smoothly, clients should receive timely attention, and artwork-related enquiries should be followed through carefully.

This position is a good fit for someone who enjoys contemporary art, has strong people skills and prefers a role where gallery management, client service and event activity come together.

Pay: $4,200.00 - $5,800.00 per month
