Job Summary
We're looking for a Gallery Manager to oversee our retail ecosystem and keep our studio schedule humming - ensuring operational excellence and delivering an exceptional guest experience. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a multi-faceted environment - you may be coordinating wholesale accounts with contemporary artists, managing a busy weekend schedule of jewelry classes, or stepping up to the welding station to give a permanent jewelry guest an unforgettable experience. You will take true ownership of daily store operations like maintaining beautiful brand standards, managing gallery staff, and supporting sales growth. If you are a highly organized leader who balances a sharp eye for business operations with a genuine passion for craft and hospitality, we want to hear from you!
Key Responsibilities
- Daily Operations & Team Leadership: Oversee daily gallery operations, opening/closing procedures, and front-of-house workflow. Hold gallery team members accountable while fostering a collaborative, positive environment.
- Customer Experience Excellence: Maintain pristine gallery cleanliness and presentation standards. Resolve customer concerns professionally, and ensure every guest receives a warm, welcoming experience.
- Artist & Wholesale Relations: Act as the primary point of contact for our curated roster of contemporary artists. Manage consignment agreements, coordinate wholesale accounts, and streamline the intake of new work.
- Inventory & Visual Merchandising: Oversee inventory management, including receiving new work, accurate digital tagging, and waste/damage control. Curate the visual merchandising of the floor to ensure displays remain full and dynamic.
- Event Coordination & Management: Aid in planning, organizing, and executing special gallery events, artist receptions, and workshops, managing setup/teardown logistics and liaising with vendors to deliver smooth, memorable experiences.
- Studio Scheduling & Alignment: Manage the master schedule for DIY jewelry making classes, ensuring optimal booking flow and seamless communication between the gallery and studio teams.
- Permanent Jewelry Artisan: Learn the craft! You will be fully trained in permanent jewelry welding so you can confidently step up to the station, manage the workflow, and create one of a kind jewelry for guests.
- Managing & Training: Assist ownership with training new gallery staff and managing employee scheduling to optimize labor efficiency and team productivity.
Requirements
- Previous management or leadership experience in retail, art galleries, or high-end hospitality preferred.
- Upbeat and friendly personality.
- Proficiency with computers and POS systems.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in managing contracts, schedules, budgets, and administrative tasks.
- Exceptional communication skills—written and verbal—to foster relationships with artists, patrons, community partners, and team members.
- A keen eye for visual design and a genuine appreciation for handmade, contemporary craft.
- Excited to work in a hands-on environment and learn a technical skill.
- Comfortable working weekends and select evenings/holidays.
- Minimum 2-year commitment preferred.
