Galley Utility

Your Purpose

The primary responsibility of the Galley Utility is to clean and maintain the Galleys on a daily basis following the cleaning schedule established by the Management onboard.

Your Impact

• Responsible for the cleanliness, maintenance and upkeep of all equipment and any other ship’s property that he/she is working with, to be responsibly minded for the breakage and loss of any equipment.
• To use only ship’s authorized chemicals in the way and manner they’ve been instructed to.
• To handle all the Cleaning materials, chemicals and machinery necessary for the daily operation.
• Must be able to work with Cleaning Machinery, assigned by the ship. This will include training for the different machinery onboard.
• Must follow at all times the United States Public Health Rules and Regulations.
• Correctly apply the food safety procedures and food quality requirements related to all processes.
• To assist with loading or provisions as directed.
• To be aware and follow security / fire / safety standards according to the ship’s rules and regulations.
• Must participate in a training program in order to develop his/her skills in view of future promotions.

Your Journey So Far

• Senior High School (12th grade) or higher. Certificate Course or Diploma in Hospitality/Catering is an advantage
• Must have work experience and/or training in the hotel or cruise industry. Past experience as a Kitchen Steward/Utility in a recognised hotel/cruise line is preferred.
• Basic knowledge on food safety.
• Must be able to speak, read and interpret English. Additional language a plus.

Your Essentials

• Passport, visas, certificates as specified by the company and as required for exit from the port of origin and entry into the destination cruising area.
• Food Safety/HACCP certificate.
