What they need
Fundisa AB, the company behind 1on1Math, is a small education business expanding from maths tutoring into hands-on AI learning for children and teens. We are developing lessons for live online classes and partner-led programmes in South Africa. The aim is for learners to create, test and improve things—not just watch AI demonstrations.
The role
You build small, playable experiences that make people curious enough to experiment. We are looking for a game designer or creative developer who uses AI and can turn a learning goal into a simple, teachable project. You will lead the interaction and build; a Fundisa educator will help shape the learning and review accuracy and age-appropriateness.
What you will create
- Design simple challenges with clear goals, meaningful choices, useful feedback and room to retry. Connect the mechanics to an AI skill—not just a points system.
- Build playable prototypes, starter projects or simulations that let learners create or modify something, test it and explain what changed. A game made with AI is not automatically a lesson about AI.
- Create student instructions and a teacher/coach pack with lesson timing, setup, a working example, troubleshooting, support and extension options, and a short walkthrough.
- Test on the agreed devices and revise after supervised learner pilots. Hand over source or editable project files, reset instructions, tool/licence notes and a simple learning check.
Your first project
Your first project is one compact activity inside a 45–60-minute beginner lesson for ages 13–15. Agree the concept and tools before building, then test and revise with our teaching team. Success means learners can build or change something and explain the AI skill involved, while another teacher can run and reset it. A small working experience beats an ambitious unfinished game.
What we are looking for
- At least one playable game, interactive prototype or simulation you built, with a clear explanation of your design and technical contribution. Personal projects and game-jam work count.
- The ability to build and debug simple interactive experiences using a toolchain you know. No-code, low-code and coded approaches are welcome; specific game-engine experience is not mandatory.
- Practical AI use, readable English instructions, good judgement about scope and running costs, and the ability to make the work usable by non-technical teachers.
Experience with educational games, children, beginner coding or browser-based projects is useful, not essential. No particular degree is required. You do not need advanced AI research or 3D-production skills. Choose tools for the learning task, not their novelty.
How we will work
Payment per hour, depending on relevant work. Initial four-week paid pilot, around 5–10 hours per week, capped at 40 hours. Ongoing part-time work may follow if the pilot succeeds and budget is available.
Remote freelance contract; Philippines-based applicants are especially welcome. Mostly flexible hours, with a weekly check-in and teacher sessions agreed in advance. Meetings, agreed research, testing and revisions are paid. Extra hours or spending require approval.
Fundisa provides an educator for learning review, arranges and supervises learner pilots, and provides agreed paid software access. We agree the brief, rate, weekly cap and payment schedule before starting.
This is not a commission for a full game platform, multiplayer system or custom AI model. Avoid unnecessary logins, paid dependencies and features that require ongoing developer support.
Responsible design
Use age- and setting-approved tools, protect learner privacy and identify asset licences and running costs. Include a fallback for limited devices, connectivity or tool failure. Fundisa handles safeguarding and permissions; no private learner contact or uploading learner personal data to AI tools.
How to apply
Apply through the job platform or reply to this ad. We are recruiting one person through related design and learning roles; please apply only once.
- Two relevant samples, including a playable link or short screen recording. Explain what you built and how someone can try it; personal projects count.
- A short example of using AI to build something: a bug or weak result you found, and how you fixed or checked it.
- Your hourly rate in USD, weekly availability, earliest start and possible call times in Philippine Time (UTC+8).
Shortlisted applicants have a brief portfolio conversation. Finalists are invited to a paid work sample: up to three hours, with the brief and terms agreed first. AI use is welcome; explain your contribution and checks. No unpaid custom lesson or full course is required.
Pay: Php10,000.00 - Php20,000.00 per month
