About AETHER@SUTD

AETHER (Air Emerging Technologies, High-speed Experimentation and Research)is an experimental innovation arm, where engineer-scientists turn audacious technological dreams into operational reality.

Why You’ll Love This Role

At AETHER@SUTD, you will serve as the technical lead for operational training simulation systems, as well as our broader range of simulation-based systems. You will work closely with the team to build and maintain Unity-based training environments, drive their continued development, and lead the development of an adaptive competency-based training system.

What You Will Do

  • Own and lead development of Unity frontends for simulation systems, including 3D terrain environments and all operator-facing interfaces.
  • Take part in development of aircraft simulations, including waypoint-based navigation, tracking, and approach guidance logic.
  • Build configurable training scenarios and performance tracking workflows, working with subject-matter experts to ensure training realism.
  • Maintain technical documentation and ensure continuity of the codebase across rotating intern cohorts.
  • Mentor software development interns and support their onboarding onto the project.
  • Contribute to technical planning and cross-project discussions as AETHER's simulation capabilities grow.

Who We Are Looking For

  • Degree or Diploma in Game Development, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field. Preferably have more than two years of experience working with these technologies or have domain experience.
  • Proficiency in C# and Unity, including UI development and scene management.
  • Comfortable integrating with backend systems and working across a multi-service architecture.
  • Self-directed and able to work collaboratively while communicating clearly across engineering, research, and operational areas within the team.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with educational software, adaptive learning systems, or training simulation platforms.
  • Understanding of UI/UX design principles for operator-facing and control-room interfaces.
  • Prior experience leading or mentoring junior developers or intern teams.
  • Understanding of Python and backend frameworks to effectively collaborate with backend developers.
  • Exposure to aviation, air defense, or other high-stakes simulation domains.
  • Familiarity with Agile/DevOps practices.
  • Good to also be familiar with Unreal Engine, and Blender
