About the role

AIWEN TECHNOLOGY (MALAYSIA) SDN. BHD. is seeking a talented and dedicated Game Testing Engineer to join our dynamic Quality Assurance team in Kuala Lumpur. This is a full-time position based in our Kuala Lumpur office. As a Game Testing Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and performance of our gaming products before they reach our players. Your expertise in identifying bugs, optimising gameplay experience, and maintaining rigorous testing standards will directly impact the success of our games in the market. This position is integral to our development process, serving as the bridge between our development teams and our end users to deliver exceptional gaming experiences.

What you'll be doing

1. Execute comprehensive functional, performance, and compatibility testing across multiple gaming platforms and devices
2. Identify, document, and report software defects and issues using standardised bug tracking systems with clear reproduction steps
3. Develop and maintain test cases, test plans, and testing documentation that align with project requirements and quality standards
4. Perform regression testing to ensure that fixes and updates do not introduce new issues or negatively impact existing functionality
5. Collaborate closely with game developers, designers, and product managers to understand requirements and provide feedback on gameplay mechanics and user experience
6. Conduct exploratory testing to discover edge cases, usability issues, and potential improvements in game design and mechanics
7. Test game balance, difficulty levels, progression systems, and in-game economy to ensure engaging and fair gameplay
8. Verify fixes and validate that reported issues have been resolved satisfactorily before release
9. Participate in testing on various devices, screen resolutions, operating systems, and network conditions
10. Contribute to the continuous improvement of testing processes and best practices within the QA department

What we're looking for

1. Proven experience working as a QA tester or Game Testing Engineer in the gaming industry or related software development environment
2. Strong understanding of game development processes, gaming platforms (mobile, console, PC), and common gaming genres
3. Excellent attention to detail with the ability to identify subtle bugs, glitches, and gameplay inconsistencies
4. Experience with bug tracking and reporting tools such as JIRA, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms
5. Proficiency in creating detailed and clear test documentation, including test cases and test scenarios
6. Solid knowledge of testing methodologies including functional, regression, performance, and compatibility testing
7. Familiarity with various gaming devices and operating systems (iOS, Android, Windows, consoles)
8. Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical team members
9. Passion for gaming and understanding of what makes games enjoyable and engaging for players
10. Problem-solving skills and the ability to work methodically through complex issues
11. Preferred: Experience with automation testing frameworks or knowledge of programming languages such as C# or C++
12. Preferred: Certification in software testing or quality assurance (ISTQB or equivalent)
