Garage / Workshop Manager – Heavy & Light Vehicles

We are establishing a new approximately 20,000 sq. ft. vehicle repair and maintenance garage in Sajaa Industrial Area, Sharjah, and we are looking for an experienced and highly responsible Garage / Workshop Manager who can take complete responsibility for setting up and managing the workshop.

Our company currently operates its own fleet of approximately 30–40 vehicles, including around 20–25 buses along with light vehicles and other company vehicles.

The garage will have two main operations:

* Maintenance and repair of our company's own vehicle fleet.

* Commercial repair and maintenance services for outside customers.

The selected candidate will be responsible for the complete garage operation, including initial setup, workshop organization, mechanics and staff management, vehicle repairs, spare parts, job control, customer vehicles, repair quality, cost control and management reporting.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Take responsibility for setting up and organizing the new 20,000 sq. ft. garage/workshop.

* Advise management on workshop layout, machinery, tools, equipment, manpower and operational requirements.

* Establish proper workshop systems, procedures and job flow from the beginning.

* Manage the complete day-to-day operation of the garage.

* Manage mechanics, auto electricians, helpers and other workshop staff.

* Manage maintenance and repairs of Ashok Leyland buses, other heavy/commercial vehicles and light vehicles.

* Diagnose and evaluate vehicle problems and assign work to the appropriate mechanic/technician.

* Manage preventive maintenance and breakdown repairs for the company's own fleet.

* Reduce vehicle downtime and ensure company vehicles return to operation as quickly as possible.

* Manage outside customer vehicles from job opening until repair completion and delivery.

* Ensure proper job cards, repair estimates, approvals and repair records are maintained.

* Monitor repair quality and ensure vehicles are not released with incomplete or poor-quality work.

* Manage spare-parts requirements, purchasing requests, stock control and parts consumption.

* Control unnecessary spare-parts usage, repeat repairs and workshop expenses.

* Monitor mechanic productivity, performance and discipline.

* Maintain workshop tools, machinery, safety and cleanliness.

* Help management develop the garage into a professionally managed and profitable commercial workshop.

* Maintain proper records of company vehicles as well as external customer vehicles.

* Submit regular management reports covering completed jobs, pending vehicles, breakdowns, spare-parts requirements, repair costs, staff performance and overall garage performance.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:

* Proven experience as a Garage Manager / Workshop Manager / Fleet Workshop Manager or similar position.

* Strong experience with buses and heavy/commercial vehicles.

* Experience with Ashok Leyland buses will be highly preferred.

* Good knowledge of light vehicle repair and maintenance.

* Strong mechanical and basic vehicle electrical diagnostic knowledge.

* Experience in workshop setup will be a major advantage.

* Good knowledge of spare parts, preventive maintenance, breakdown management and workshop cost control.

* Ability to manage mechanics and workshop staff independently.

* Ability to deal professionally with external customers and manage commercial repair jobs.

* Strong leadership, problem-solving, planning and reporting skills.

* UAE/GCC garage or fleet maintenance experience preferred.

* UAE Driving Licence will be an advantage.

IMPORTANT:

This is not only a supervisory or office-based position.

We need a hands-on and technically knowledgeable Garage / Workshop Manager who can take ownership of the new garage from the setup stage and subsequently manage the complete operation.

The person will be expected to manage both our company's 30–40 vehicle fleet and external customer repair business, control mechanics and repair quality, reduce vehicle downtime and maintenance costs, and help develop the garage into a well-organized and profitable workshop.

Candidates with strong experience in Ashok Leyland buses, commercial vehicles, workshop setup and garage management will be given preference.
