Experienced Gardener

Evergreen is looking for an experienced and reliable Gardener to join our established landscaping and grounds maintenance team.

We work across a varied portfolio of high-end private gardens, commercial sites and larger grounds throughout North Devon, so we are looking for someone with strong practical horticultural knowledge who takes pride in producing work to a high standard.

The role

The role will involve a wide range of garden and grounds maintenance work, including:

• General garden and grounds maintenance
• Lawn care, mowing and strimming
• Hedge cutting and pruning
• Shrub, herbaceous and border maintenance
• Planting and soft landscaping
• Weed control
• Seasonal garden maintenance
• Using and maintaining a range of horticultural machinery and equipment
• Working independently and alongside other members of the team
• Ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard
• Providing a professional and courteous service when working at clients' properties and sites

About you

The ideal candidate will have:

• Previous professional gardening, horticultural or grounds maintenance experience
• Good plant knowledge and practical horticultural skills
• Experience maintaining established gardens and grounds
• Confidence using professional gardening machinery and equipment
• A good understanding of seasonal pruning and plant care
• A strong work ethic and attention to detail
• The ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• A reliable and professional approach to work
• A full UK driving licence

A relevant RHS, NVQ or equivalent horticultural qualification would be advantageous but is not essential where the candidate has strong practical experience.

Additional qualifications such as PA1/PA6 pesticide certification, chainsaw certificates and trailer towing experience would also be advantageous.

What we're looking for

This position would suit an experienced gardener who enjoys varied outdoor work and wants to be part of a small, established team.

Unlike our senior/team leader positions, this role does not carry primary responsibility for managing a team, although we would expect the successful candidate to be capable of working independently, using their initiative and taking responsibility for the quality of their own work.
