Gardener

Waynesboro Landscape & Garden Center, a family-owned business since 1946, is seeking an experienced, focused, and hard-working Gardener that will contribute to our reputation for maintaining gardens to the highest standard; our culture of family with accountability; and our values: compassion, integrity, humility, family, and dependability.

The Gardener will work 40 hours a week during 10-hour days, 7:00 am-5:30 pm (with diminished winter hours), taking direction from the Crew Leader to maintain residential gardens and develop quality customer relationships by:

· Edging and mulching established beds; expanding beds

· Pruning: roses, boxwoods, other shrubs, vines, and small ornamental and fruit trees

· Planting: annuals, perennials, some shrubs and small trees; containers

· Weeding, removing leaves, watering

Required Qualifications:

· Positive attitude and professional demeanor

· Honest, self-motivated, and conscientious

· Observant: able to distinguish between species that require different care

· 1+ year of experience in gardening, landscaping, farming, or related work

· Commitment to maintaining a safe and efficient work environment

· Ability to safely use and maintain hand and power tools

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team

· Valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications:

· Passion for plants and gardening

· 2+ years of experience in gardening or landscaping

· Knowledge of common ornamental plants of the region (USDA Zone 6/7)

· Undergraduate degree

· Experience driving a non-CDL dump truck

· Experience operating a skid-steer
