Gardener (Fixed Term)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Seasonal Gardener to join the team at Arrowtown Lifestyle Village from early October 2026 until mid-April 2027. Our gardens are our pride and joy and an important feature of our village.

You will work under our Head Gardener and alongside our gardening and facilities team. You will help maintain the grounds of our thriving retirement village throughout the busy growing season. This is a full-time, fixed-term position suited to someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in producing high-quality work and is comfortable engaging with residents as part of their day.

Key responsibilities

• Support the gardening team with seasonal planting, garden development and the high-quality presentation of the village grounds
• Maintain the gardens, grounds and associated equipment safely, effectively and efficiently
• Undertake regular mowing, edging, pruning, weeding, watering and other routine garden maintenance

About you

• Strong practical gardening skills and the ability to identify and care for a wide variety of plants
• Confidence in the safe use and basic maintenance of gardening tools and machinery
• Experience with mowing and general lawn care
• Reliability, a positive attitude and the ability to work effectively outdoors in changing conditions
• A current New Zealand driver licence
• The legal right to work in New Zealand for the full fixed-term period
