What they need
Who are we?
Proudly servicing Otago for over a century, we are a locally owned and operated business providing dry cleaning and textile rental services across the region. We offer retail dry cleaning through Preens, workwear rental and laundering through Apparelmaster, and linen and towel rental through Linenmaster.
Our Dunedin laundry is home to some of the South Island’s most advanced laundry equipment. In 2025, we commissioned Australasia’s first commercial 2MW electric boiler, powered by 100% certified renewable electricity. This has significantly reduced our emissions and water use, making us one of the lowest-emission commercial laundries in the world.
The role
We are looking for a permanent, full-time Garment Assembly Assistant to join our Apparelmaster team. This role is responsible for sorting and assembling our customers’ garments after they have been processed, making sure everything is in the right place and ready for our drivers to deliver on time.
We’re looking for someone who is reliable, has a good eye for detail and enjoys working in a busy, active environment. You’ll be on your feet throughout the day, so you’ll need to be comfortable with a role that keeps you moving. Hours are 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:00am–4:30pm.
Key responsibilities
· Scanning and sorting customer garments and textiles.
· Hanging, folding, bagging and piecing customer orders according to customer requirements.
· Ensuring orders are accurate, complete and ready for delivery on time.
· Checking garments are in an acceptable condition before dispatch.
· Accurately recording garment and product volumes.
· Assisting with training new team members when required.
About you
Reliability is really important to us. The ideal person will be punctual, dependable and ready to contribute as part of the team each day.
You’ll also need to
· Be comfortable being on your feet and active throughout an 8 hour work day.
· Have strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
· Be able to follow processes and customer-specific requirements.
· Work efficiently while still getting things right.
· Be organised and able to keep track of different customers, service days and driver runs.
· Work well as part of a team in a busy production environment.
· Have a positive attitude and be willing to help out where needed.
· Basic sewing skills would be an advantage, but are not essential.
What we offer
We offer regular daytime working hours, overtime opportunities, weekly pay, training opportunities, and staff benefits including paid appointment leave, n3 employee discounts, morning tea shouts after school holidays, and half-price dry-cleaning.
