Job Title: Garment Engineer

Experience: 15+ Years

Department: Industrial Engineering / CAD / Production

Qualification: Degree or Diploma in Apparel Manufacturing, Garment Technology, Textile Technology, or a related field.

Role Purpose

To optimize garment manufacturing processes, manage CAD-related technical activities, improve production efficiency, and ensure accurate pattern, marker, and consumption development for sampling and bulk production.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage garment CAD activities, including pattern development, grading, marker making, and consumption analysis.
• Conduct time and method studies, establish SMV/SAM, and improve production line efficiency.
• Coordinate with Product Development, Pattern, Sampling, Vendor, and Production teams for new style development.
• Review garment construction, fabric parameters, and technical specifications to ensure manufacturability.
• Support sample development, fit corrections, pattern modifications, and bulk production readiness.
• Analyze production bottlenecks and implement process improvements through Lean Manufacturing, 5S.
• Monitor productivity, fabric utilization and related operational KPIs.
• Lead and guide Industrial Engineering teams to maintain technical accuracy and achieve operational targets.

Mandatory Technical Skills

• Strong working knowledge of garment CAD software Optitex systems.
• Expertise in pattern development, pattern grading, marker making, and fabric consumption calculation.
• Strong understanding of garment construction, measurements, fit, and grading rules.
• Knowledge of SMV/SAM, time study, method study, line balancing, and productivity improvement.
• Ability to troubleshoot technical discrepancies between fit sample vs production requirements.

Preferred Industry Experience

• Extensive experience in knitted and/or woven garment manufacturing,
• with proven expertise in template sewing, fabric utilization, and production process optimization.
