What they need

About Us

Ziggy Lou is an Australian fashion label creating stylish, comfortable and practical clothing for the whole family. Starting as a childrenswear brand, we've expanded into womenswear and menswear and continue to grow each year.

We're proud of our supportive team culture, collaborative environment and commitment to creating beautiful, quality products.

The Role

We're looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Garment Technician to join our growing Design & Production team.

You'll play a key role in managing the technical development of our garments, ensuring exceptional standards of fit, construction, quality and safety from initial sampling through to bulk production.

Working closely with our internal team and offshore manufacturers, we're looking for someone who is confident working independently, proactively solving problems and taking ownership of the technical development process.

This is a full-time, office-based role in Cranbourne West, Victoria. As a collaborative, hands-on position, we are not able to offer hybrid or work-from-home arrangements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage technical garment development from initial samples through to bulk production.
  • Create and maintain detailed tech packs, specifications, measurement charts and grading rules.
  • Lead fit sessions, manage sample approvals and provide clear, detailed feedback to suppliers.
  • Identify and resolve fit, construction and manufacturing issues throughout development.
  • Lead quality control processes throughout garment development and bulk production, ensuring consistent product quality.
  • Coordinate and oversee garment, fabric and component testing to ensure compliance with relevant international safety standards and regulatory requirements, particularly across Australia, the USA and EU.
  • Review testing results, identify potential risks and work with suppliers and external testing laboratories to implement corrective actions.
  • Conduct quality assessments, wear trials and pre-production sample approvals to identify and resolve issues before bulk manufacturing.
  • Liaise directly with offshore manufacturers to resolve technical and production concerns.
  • Collaborate with the Design & Production team to maintain product quality, consistency and timelines, while identifying opportunities for improvement.

About You

  • Ideally 5+ years of experience in garment technology or technical product development, with childrenswear experience highly regarded.
  • A qualification in fashion, textiles or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge of garment construction, grading, fabrication and fit.
  • Experience creating tech packs and working with offshore manufacturers.
  • Experience coordinating garment, fabric and component testing, with a strong understanding of quality control processes.
  • Knowledge of Australian, US and EU product safety regulations, particularly for childrenswear, will be highly regarded.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Excel.
  • Excellent organisation, communication and problem-solving skills.
  • A proactive, detail-oriented approach with the confidence to work independently and manage competing deadlines.

Why Join Ziggy Lou?

  • Generous staff discounts
  • Supportive and collaborative team environment
  • Career growth and development opportunities
  • Opportunity to make an impact within a growing Australian fashion label
  • Free onsite parking
