Gas Suppression Engineer

Gemini AMPM is hiring a gas suppression engineer for installation, commissioning, service and maintenance across London and the South East.

Server rooms, comms rooms, switchrooms, archives and commercial kitchens, for clients whose fire detection we already look after. That means the cause and effect between detection and release is agreed in-house, not argued over between two contractors.

The work

• Installation and commissioning of gaseous systems: inert gas (IG-541, IG-55) and chemical agents (FM-200 / HFC-227ea, FK-5-1-12), pipework, nozzles, cylinders, actuators and release panels

• Planned service and maintenance to BS EN 15004 and BS ISO 14520: cylinder weighing and pressure checks, actuator and hold-off tests, pipework and nozzle inspection, certification on the day

• Room integrity (door fan) testing, and advising on the sealing work a failed test needs

• Kitchen suppression systems (Ansul R-102 and equivalents): install, service and fusible link changes

• Detection and release interfaces to BS 7273-1 with our own fire alarm engineers

• Reactive visits and discharge recovery, with shared call-out and a van

What we are looking for

• Time served on gaseous suppression: installation, commissioning or service on Kidde, Fike, Siemens, Sevo or equivalent systems

• Working knowledge of BS EN 15004 / BS ISO 14520 and BS 7273-1; BAFE SP203-3 company experience valued

• Room integrity testing experience, or keen to be trained on it

• Fire alarm engineers ready to cross into suppression are welcome: we will train the discipline

• Electrical grounding (18th Edition or similar) and manufacturer training certificates are a plus

• Clean UK driving licence; based within reach of London or the South East

What we offer

Basic salary £35,000 to £48,000 depending on experience and tickets, plus paid overtime, shared call-out, a company van, the standard workplace pension and employee ownership.

Gemini AMPM has installed and maintained fire and security systems across London and the South East since 1997, and has been owned by an Employee Ownership Trust since 2024: stay, and you own part of the company. Training is paid, including manufacturer courses, and progression runs on the AMPM Academy ladder.
