Gate operator technician

Overview

As a Gate Operator Technician, you’ll install, service, and troubleshoot gate operators and integrated security systems at customer sites. You’ll combine mechanical knowledge with low-voltage electrical skills to keep gates, alarms, and access controls operating safely and reliably. Your impact: By resolving equipment issues and integrating dependable access systems, you help customers protect people and property while maintaining smooth entry and exit.

Duties

• Install, wire, configure, and test gate operators, door security systems, alarm and access control systems, sensors, closed-circuit television (CCTV), and related security equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults; provide field service, equipment troubleshooting, and technical support.
• Read schematics, electrical blueprints, and technical drawings to plan installations and identify system requirements.
• Use hand and power tools to complete cabling, low-voltage wiring, and equipment repairs; follow applicable National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements.
• Configure computer hardware, networking, and remote access software; explain system operation and service findings clearly to customers.

Experience

• Service technician experience, field service, or construction experience is valuable. Electrical experience and experience with low-voltage electrical systems are preferred.
• Familiarity with intrusion detection systems (IDS), surveillance, security systems, fire alarms, telecommunication, locksmithing, and door security system integration is an asset.
• Bring practical skills in mechanical work, electrical security system installation, physical security system troubleshooting, computer networking, and interpreting technical drawings.
• Customer service skills and the ability to use technical knowledge to support customers are important. Alarm system sales experience is helpful but not required.

Pay: From $15.00 per hour
