GCP Data Engineer

Important note: Experience within the UK Utilities or Energy sector is mandatory

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build and optimise scalable ELT pipelines to ingest and process data from multiple source systems.
• Develop robust data models aligned to business requirements and analytics use cases.
• Support cloud data platform migration initiatives and modernisation programmes.
• Curate, transform and manage enterprise datasets to ensure data quality and reliability.
• Partner with business stakeholders, analysts and engineering teams to deliver impactful data solutions.
• Continuously improve data products, pipelines and platform capabilities.
• Provide technical support and guidance to Data Analysts and wider project teams.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and cross-functional problem-solving activities.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Strong experience designing and implementing data warehouse solutions.
• Proven experience building ELT pipelines in cloud environments.
• Demonstrable experience delivering complex data migration programmes.
• Strong SQL and data modelling expertise.
• Experience with cloud data warehouses, particularly Google BigQuery.
• Experience with transformation frameworks such as dbt or Dataform.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Experience developing high-quality, maintainable and scalable code.
• Ability to optimise data pipelines for performance, reliability and scalability.

Desirable Skills & Experience

• Experience within the UK Utilities or Energy sector.
• Exposure to Gentrack Junifer .
• Knowledge of Data Vault 2.0 modelling methodologies.
• Python development experience.
• Infrastructure-as-Code experience (Terraform preferred).
• GitOps deployment practices.
• Experience with Kubernetes and containerised environments.
• Experience working within a cloud-native GCP ecosystem.
