General Accountant

We are looking for a detail-oriented General Accountant to manage daily accounting operations for our supermarket, ensuring accurate financial records, proper cash control, inventory reconciliation, supplier payments, and timely financial reporting.

Responsibilities

• Record daily sales, purchases, expenses, receipts, and payments.
• Reconcile POS sales, cash collections, credit card transactions, and bank deposits.
• Monitor cashier transactions, cash shortages, overages, and daily cash closing reports.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, including supplier invoices and payments.
• Verify supplier invoices against purchase orders, goods received notes (GRNs), and delivery documents.
• Reconcile supplier statements and follow up on outstanding balances.
• Monitor inventory valuation, stock adjustments, wastage, expired products, and stock discrepancies.
• Assist with stocktaking and investigate differences between physical stock and system records.
• Prepare bank reconciliations, journal entries, and monthly financial reports.
• Monitor operating expenses, petty cash, and payment vouchers.
• Maintain accurate accounting records in the ERP/accounting system.
• Assist with VAT returns, tax documentation, and compliance with applicable UAE tax regulations.
• Support month-end and year-end closing activities and external audits.
• Coordinate with purchasing, store operations, warehouse, and management to resolve financial discrepancies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 2–3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a supermarket or retail business.
• Strong knowledge of POS reconciliation, inventory accounting, supplier accounts, and bank reconciliation.
• Familiarity with UAE VAT requirements and accounting practices.
• Experience with accounting software or ERP systems; advanced Excel skills are preferred.
• Strong numerical accuracy, analytical skills, organization, and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of stock movement, margins, shrinkage, wastage, and expiry management.
• Ability to meet deadlines and maintain confidentiality.

Pay: AED3,500.00 - AED5,000.00 per month
