General Assistant

As a General Assistant (Coding) in the Varnishing Department, you will report directly to the Value-Added Manager and will be responsible for assisting the Varnishing operator with production tasks, and help maintain a safe and efficient working environment.

The incumbent will be responsible for but not limited to:

• Assist with machine setup, servicing, and wash-ups.
• Maintain housekeeping and ensure the work area is clean daily.
• Prepare jobs by removing old work, bringing the next job to the machine, and piling correctly.
• Check quality and alignment (front and back) while piling.
• Report irregularities to the operator or manager.
• Break paper stacks for smoother feeding and remove waste/crease sheets.
• Handle stack cards, job tickets, and ensure documentation follows the job.
• Knock up, wrap, weigh, and label completed stacks, then deliver to the next operation.
• Support varnishing by checking quality during production.

Desired Experience & Qualification

• A minimum Grade 11 qualification
• Previous manufacturing/ label printing experience
• Able to multi-task and think on your feet
• Enthusiastic and eager team-player
