General Builder

The role:

Assist the Project Manager and Site Managers on construction project sites and manage smaller building projects by supervising and working with sub-contractors. This will occasionally be a customer facing position and therefore requires professionalism and the ability to communicate at all levels.

Reporting to: Site Manager or Projects Manager

Relationships: Customers; Suppliers; reporting team (as above) and sub-contractors.

Key Tasks:

General Builder

• Assist teams to deliver successful projects

• Carry out building tasks on site to the highest level and efficiently

• Assisting in bringing together the full team across projects

• Assisting with project review meetings/debriefs

• Working as part of a team

• To deliver client projects from start to finish; to time, cost, quality and safety standards, communicating details of CAD plans, drawing, and/or instructions for each project to the team

• To ensure that all Health & Safety practices and procedures are followed appropriately

• Ensuring projects are delivered professionally, on time and to high company standards

• Establish standards of safety and performance on projects and inspect the quality of work against these standards

• Maintaining the professional reputation of the company always

Experience and skills to be successful in the role:

Technical/practical – sufficient evidence of:

• Thorough knowledge of building industry and construction across all levels

• Competent understanding of CAD plans and drawings.

• Experience in working with a team to achieve deadlines.

• Experience of H&S requirements for construction sites of all levels

• Demonstrated ability in administration; to complete procedural paperwork, H&S documents, tools, and equipment safety checks.

Personal skills and style:

• Clear communication skills, friendly and co-operative approach with colleagues, clients and sub-contractors.

• Interpersonal skills to manage a small team effectively.

• Team working skills

• Demonstrated ability in customer care skills, and interest in follow-up details.

• Eye for detail and checking for accuracy.

• Prepared to occasionally travel with varied hours and overnight stays on location.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: £16.00-£30.00 per hour

Ability to commute/relocate:

• Radstock, Somerset: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

• Building/Maintenance: 2 years (required)
