General Carpenter - Long Term Supply Assignment

Catholic Education Centre, Peterborough 40 h/w (12 m/y) Duration: Approximately 6 weeks or upon the early return of the employee being replaced . Job Function Perform carpentry and general maintenance duties.

Job Description Perform the following duties:

• Construct, erect, install and repair walls, ceilings, flooring, portables, playground equipment, shelving, etc.
• Prepare surfaces and apply finishes to shelving, cabinets, etc.
• Carry out general maintenance duties.
• Estimate, requisition and/or purchase materials and equipment.
• Calculate elevations by use of transit.
• Maintain equipment and machinery.
• Maintain records and prepare reports as required.
• May be required to do custodial duties on a temporary basis.
• Operate a motor vehicle.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

1. OSSD plus General Carpenter’s Certificate of Qualification.

• Knowledge of general building maintenance, provincial construction standards and pertinent government regulations.
• Working from ladders and scaffolds and in confined areas.
• Reading and interpreting blueprints and drawings.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Using a variety of power and hand tools and machines.
• Communicating effectively and working co-operatively with Board personnel, suppliers and the general public.
