General Construction Laborer

Lawson Rigging and Fabrication is seeking hardworking, dependable, and motivated individuals to join our growing industrial and marine construction team. You’ll work alongside experienced professionals on industrial job sites, gain valuable hands-on experience, and have opportunities for advancement within a company that values skill, safety, and growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist millwrights and crew members with machinery installation, maintenance, and repairs on industrial/marine sites, factories, and construction zones
• Help assemble, install, and align machinery and equipment according to blueprints and technical specifications
• Safely move materials and heavy equipment using hand tools, forklifts, and rigging equipment
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas
• Support routine machinery upkeep and preventive maintenance
• Assist in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical issues
• Follow all company and job site safety procedures, including proper PPE use
• Learn directly from experienced tradespeople to expand your skills in industrial construction

QualificationsExperience

• 2+ years of industrial construction experience preferred
• 1+ year of welding, fabrication, or rigging experience preferred

Skills

• Proficiency with hand and power tools
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability
• Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment
• Strong work ethic and willingness to learn

Requirements

• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen
• Must meet all State of Iowa and Federal employment requirements
• Willingness to travel frequently
• Comfortable working at heights and in industrial environments
• Arrive prepared with necessary tools ready to work

Physical Requirements

• Frequent climbing, standing, bending, kneeling, squatting, and walking
• Ability to lift and move 50–75 lbs regularly
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and moderate noise levels
• Required PPE is provided
• Reasonable accommodations available in accordance with ADA guidelines

Travel & Benefits

• $65/day per diem for meals and beverages while traveling (per diem jobs only)
• Hotel accommodations fully covered by the company
