Position: General Core Banking Data Migration Expert

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Core Banking Data Migration Leader / Data Migration Expert to lead and execute end-to-end data migration activities for a major banking transformation programme in Doha, Qatar.

The ideal candidate must have hands-on experience leading at least 23 Core Banking Data Migration projects and possess a strong understanding of the complete Data Migration lifecycle, from strategy and planning through execution, reconciliation, cutover, and post-migration validation.

The role requires a hands-on leader who can independently plan, coordinate, manage, and execute complex banking data migration activities while working closely with business, technology, core banking, testing, and implementation teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end Core Banking Data Migration activities across the programme lifecycle.
• Develop and execute the overall Data Migration Strategy, Approach and Plan.
• Assess source systems and understand data structures, dependencies, quality, and migration requirements.
• Define source-to-target data mapping and transformation rules.
• Lead data extraction, cleansing, transformation, validation, and loading activities.
• Coordinate migration activities across Business, Functional, Technical, ETL, QA and Core Banking teams.
• Define migration scope, timelines, milestones, dependencies, risks, and deliverables.
• Manage data quality issues and ensure data is complete, accurate, consistent, and fit for migration.
• Lead data reconciliation between source and target systems.
• Plan and manage multiple migration cycles, mock migrations, dress rehearsals, and production migration.
• Develop and execute cutover and go-live migration plans.
• Coordinate migration activities during the production cutover and ensure successful completion.
• Identify and manage migration risks, issues, dependencies, and remediation activities.
• Provide migration status updates and reports to programme leadership and key stakeholders.
• Ensure appropriate documentation, migration controls, validation results, and sign-offs are maintained.
• Support post-migration validation, issue resolution, and stabilisation activities.

Mandatory Skills & Experience

• Strong experience in Core Banking Data Migration within Banking / Financial Services.

• Must have worked as a Data Migration Lead / Data Migration Manager / Data Migration Leader.

• Proven experience leading at least 2–3 Core Banking Data Migration projects.

• Strong understanding of the complete end-to-end Data Migration lifecycle.

• Proven ability to independently plan and execute data migration programmes.

• Experience coordinating cross-functional teams across Business, Technology, QA, ETL and Core Banking implementation.

• Strong knowledge of migration risks, dependencies, data quality and reconciliation processes.

Core Banking Platform Experience – Preferred

Experience with one or more of the following is highly desirable:

• Temenos T24 / Transact
• Infosys Finacle
• Oracle FLEXCUBE
• Avaloq
• Other major Core Banking platforms

Technical / Data Skills – Preferred

• Strong SQL knowledge.
• Exposure to ETL and data migration tools/frameworks.
• Understanding of source-to-target mapping and transformation processes.
• Experience with large-volume banking data migration.
• Experience with migration reconciliation and validation tools.

Regional Experience – Preferred

• Previous experience working on GCC / Middle East banking projects is preferred.
• Candidates holding Qatar MEV or UAE Residency will be preferred for ease of travel and mobilisation.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate should be a Data Migration Leader rather than purely a Data Migration Developer/ETL Developer. The candidate must demonstrate ownership of migration strategy, planning, execution, reconciliation, cutover, and go-live across multiple Core Banking migration projects.
