General Counsel

Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and highly skilled General Counsel to lead our legal department and serve as the primary legal advisor to our organization. This pivotal role involves overseeing all legal matters, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and providing strategic guidance on complex legal issues. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of diverse legal fields, including corporate law, litigation, employment law, intellectual property, environmental law, and more. As a key member of the leadership team, you will champion ethical practices, mitigate legal risks, and support the organization’s growth and sustainability through expert legal counsel. Duties

• Provide expert legal advice on a broad spectrum of issues including contract negotiations, compliance, intellectual property, employment law, environmental regulations, and corporate governance.
• Lead and manage all aspects of litigation and dispute resolution, including trial preparation, court depositions, and personal injury cases.
• Draft, review, and negotiate complex contracts with vendors, partners, clients, and stakeholders to protect organizational interests.
• Oversee legal research using tools such as LexisNexis and Westlaw to stay current on statutory laws and procedural regulations affecting the organization.
• Develop and implement policies that promote legal compliance across all departments while fostering a culture of ethical conduct.
• Manage external counsel relationships for specialized areas such as tribal law & regulations, securities law, patent law, workers’ compensation law, family law, landlord-tenant law, immigration law, and others.
• Conduct internal training sessions on legal topics including procedural law knowledge and legal advocacy techniques to empower staff at all levels.
• Maintain meticulous records of all legal cases using comprehensive case management systems; prepare detailed reports for executive review.
• Support employment-related matters by advising on employment law case experiences and handling employment law case investigations when necessary.

Experience

• Extensive experience practicing law within a corporate or in-house setting with proven success in managing complex litigation cases.
• Demonstrated expertise in multiple legal disciplines such as estate planning, environmental law, securities law, personal injury law, contract drafting & negotiation, trial preparation & court depositions.
• Strong background in legal research utilizing LexisNexis and Westlaw platforms; proficiency in statutory legal research is essential.
• Proven track record in handling general & commercial litigation as well as employment law cases with effective client communication skills.
• Experience managing a team of attorneys or legal professionals while collaborating effectively with executive leadership.
• Familiarity with procedural laws relevant to court proceedings and experience preparing legal motions for trial or administrative hearings.
• Knowledge of land use regulations, tribal laws & regulations (if applicable), patent laws related to intellectual property rights; familiarity with personal injury case processes is preferred.
• Exceptional writing skills for drafting clear legal documents; adept at conducting research that informs strategic decision-making within fast-paced environments.

Pay: $60,446.72 - $80,000.00 per year
