Overview
We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented General Counsel to lead our legal department and provide strategic legal guidance across all facets of our operations. This pivotal role involves managing legal risks, ensuring compliance with regulations, and supporting the company's growth initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess strong negotiation skills, expertise in legal research, and exceptional writing and drafting abilities to navigate the complex cannabis industry landscape.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive legal counsel on corporate governance, regulatory compliance, intellectual property, contracts, and commercial transactions.
• Lead negotiations for key agreements including licensing, distribution, supplier contracts, and partnership arrangements.
• Conduct thorough legal research to stay abreast of evolving cannabis laws and industry standards across jurisdictions.
• Draft, review, and revise legal documents with precision to protect the company's interests while facilitating business objectives.
• Develop internal policies and procedures that promote compliance with applicable laws and mitigate legal risks.
• Collaborate with executive leadership to shape strategic initiatives and ensure legal considerations are integrated into decision-making processes.
• Manage external legal counsel when specialized expertise or additional support is required.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school; licensed to practice law in relevant jurisdictions.
• Proven experience in corporate law, commercial negotiations, or general counsel roles within regulated industries such as cannabis or pharmaceuticals.
• Strong negotiation skills with a track record of closing complex agreements effectively.
• Proficiency in legal research tools such as LexisNexis or similar platforms.
• Excellent writing skills with the ability to produce clear, concise legal documents and reports.
• Expertise in legal drafting related to contracts, policies, and compliance documentation.
• Familiarity with industry-specific regulations governing cannabis operations is highly desirable.

Pay: $170,000.00-$210,000.00 per year
