General duty assistant

Job Summary

Pulse Medi Care Hospital is looking for a responsible, compassionate, and hardworking General Duty Assistant (GDA) to support nursing staff and assist patients with their daily care needs. The candidate will help maintain patient comfort, hygiene, safety, and cleanliness while ensuring smooth hospital operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist patients with daily activities, including bathing, grooming, dressing, and feeding.
• Help patients move safely between beds, wheelchairs, and stretchers.
• Support nurses and other healthcare professionals in providing quality patient care.
• Monitor and report any changes in a patient's condition to the nursing staff.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in patient rooms and care areas.
• Assist with transferring and transporting patients within the hospital.
• Help prepare beds and maintain patient comfort.
• Follow hospital infection control procedures and safety protocols.
• Handle and dispose of biomedical waste according to hospital guidelines and training.
• Assist with basic patient care activities under the supervision of nursing staff.
• Provide emotional support and communicate respectfully with patients and their families.
• Maintain patient privacy, dignity, and confidentiality.
• Perform other duties assigned by the nursing supervisor or hospital management.

Qualifications and Skills

• GDA certification or relevant healthcare training preferred.
• Previous hospital or patient-care experience is an advantage.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Compassionate, patient, and attentive attitude.
• Ability to work in shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Physically fit to assist with patient movement and routine care duties.
• Knowledge of hygiene, sanitation, and infection prevention practices.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a healthcare team.
